So it begins locally - Wisconsin public workers flood capitol to protest benefit cuts

go figure that all the states mentioned in this list are blue states...

So hows that socialist utopia working out for you dems..

from what i've heard, obama's budget has bailouts for those blue states at the expense of the red states.

The "Revolution" will not be people protesting and revolting because of government tyranny, loss of natural rights, or anything noble.

It will be lead and populated by government workers and other parasites who suddenly find that their checks not to be to their liking. They are some of the most violent and immoral people already, just give them the reason to violently protest and riot and they'll burn down a city.

Sadly, maddeningly, precisely, that. ^^^

Let's see a mob like that out to protest a state/fed "fusion" center.

Or PATRIOT Act passage.

Or a million other deaths by a thousand cuts liberty is suffering from.

At a gut level though, Boobus understands how important this is, and how badly his back is against the wall, since there really aren't any more middle class jobs left, other than working for the government.

A counter-protest is in order...once everyone's off of work.

hahahaha -- that's really the problem, right? You can't have a counter-protest, because all those people are actually WORKING!

Post from a self-described "anarcho-syndicalist" friend on FB:
Madison Wisconsin is now the newest front for in our class struggle, teachers, police, firemen and other public employees, marching together in solidarity, who would have thunk?

We should consider organizing counter protests against these people and tell them how fucking worthless and draining their jobs are, and how we the voters want to stop paying their salary. When the government starts disintegrating, this is going to be a real issue.

Ummm.. I think we're thinking about this the wrong way. Of course I like fiscally conservative State governments, but with 46 or so states in trouble, with a total shortfall of $150B or more likely. Why don't we get these State workers in wisonsin on our side and suggest cutting all Iraq and Afghanistan spending and ALL foreign aid, to help us deal with the shortfalls. At least we'd get out of the Middle East, and perhaps, we can pick up another $70B from Mubarak, and if we're real lucky, maybe everyone can put their heads together and figure out where the $2.3 trillion still missing dollars from the pentagon went. Then next year, we can go after the military bases around the world to deal with the next state budget crisis.

Obama had put total U.S. war costs in both countries at about $160 billion in budget requests for both 2010 and 2011.

Obama's 2012 budget request for the State Department and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) was $47 billion, up one percent from 2010 levels.

And what's sad is that these employees are typically among the higher compensated people. How many people in that town have been making $10/hr for the last 10 years working at a convenience store? How many have been unemployed for the last 20 months?

Heh. Reliably Democratic Michigan is a solid red right now.

I wouldn't say "solid" red, but definitely not solid blue.

Do these people understand that we are a poor country now and everyone must commensurately sacrifice? These State-union workers are as bad as the big Corporations -- they are exactly the same. When you borrow money and cannot pay it back that is called illusory wealth. If I could get a 1,000,000 credit card I'd be doing good for a while until I had to pay back all that debt. The fact is America will become at least a second world country because of all the Government tyranny we've been experiencing for the past 60 years. It has sucked so much capital, so much wealth, that we have to start actually saving our money again. END THE MOTHERFUCKING FED. END THESE WARS. Start repealing and abolishing all of these Government services that can be handled much better in the market.

Yup.

No one protests TSA pat downs, the Patriot Act passing again, Obama continuing the wars and giving the okay to assassinate Americans abroad, but when GOVERNMENT workers get a decrease of their checks comparable to the PRIVATE sector all of a sudden there are riots?

lol we're in big trouble.

Won't ever happen. No Senator (besides Lee) is even taking Rand Paul seriously. The only answer is secession.

Indeed. That is why I always bring up the Free State Project. I think that is the last best hope for liberty and prosperity in our future. Everyone should think long and hard about what is to come and where you would rather be -- among friends or socialists, because it is going to get very bad. We will need to help out each other. Sacrifice together and build for a better tomorrow in a libertarian society. We need to have a majority somewhere, and red State fascists and blue State socialists are the two places you do not want to be.

For a Free New Hampshire. Independence! The USA is dead. It has been completely destroyed from any vestige of what was intended.

Hmm well I know there aren't really any red states up there I'd want to live in, so....

(maybe Montana, but even then, damn cold..)

As a non-union state government employee, I'm wondering when this starts to affect my workplace. I tend to think of my workplace as pretty independent of union influence, but maybe I'll be proven wrong.

My girlfriend is a unionized state government employee in a different department. The only way that she'll ever lose her job is WITH the unions. Her performance evaluations are the highest in her group, but the union rules are "Last In, First Out" as well as "bumping" (if your job is eliminated, you can "bump" a less experienced person out of their job). It makes any meritocratic attempts, such as performance reviews, less than useless.
