...and I had to do a double-take. Let me type for you a passage from the book:

And even when they became discontented, as they sometimes did, their discontent led nowhere, because, being without general ideas, they could only focus it on petty specific grievances. The larger evils invariably escaped their notice." - 1984 by George Orwell
This was a book published in 1945. The more things change, the more they stay the same...
