...and I had to do a double-take. Let me type for you a passage from the book:

"It was not desirable that the proles should have strong political feelings. All that was required of them was a primitive patriotism which could be appealed to whenever it was necessary to make them accept longer working-hours or shorter rations. And even when they became discontented, as they sometimes did, their discontent led nowhere, because, being without general ideas, they could only focus it on petty specific grievances. The larger evils invariably escaped their notice." - 1984 by George Orwell

This was a book published in 1945. The more things change, the more they stay the same...

Thats a good quote indeed!?

Ending sucks but.
Let me know when you're finished.

You cannot help but realize how dead on accurate Orwell was on political issues. It is an amazing portrayal of underlying political agendas.

"We shall get nowhere until we start by recognizing that political behavior is largely non-rational, that the world is suffering from some kind of mental disease which must be diagnosed before it can be cured. " -- George Orwell

You guys need to take off your tin-foil hats!

This is the twenty-first century, and we're a new breed of people with a different array of problems. Get with it!

Clearly spoken by someone who has never read the book. At least read the cliff notes. You'll find that his words were prophetic. You've heard of 'Big Brother' right? Well, did you know that term came from the book '1984'? Read the book and then dare to call us tin foil hatters.

Big brother is a malicious term used to label those who have our best interest in mind, and only want to keep an eye us to protect us from terrorists. Where are you getting these wild ideas from? Why on earth would I even bother reading cliff notes of some far-out conspiracy theory book when I can just watch the news (maybe switch back and forth from CNN and Fox) to better understand the big picture, and what's really going on behind the scenes.

Youngbuck is either REALLY funny or REALLY retarded...I wish he would use smileys to let us know which.

They were born, they grew up in the gutters, they went to work at twelve, they passed through a brief blossoming period of beauty and sexual desire, they married at twenty, they were middle-aged at thirty, they died, for the most part, at sixty. Heavy physical work, the care of home and children, petty quarrels with neighbors, films, football, beer, and, above all, gambling filled up the horizon of their minds.

She only questioned the teachings of the Party when they in some way touched upon her own life. Often she was ready to accept the official mythology, simply because the difference between truth and falsehood did not seem important to her.

:(

I didn't use smileys on purpose, just to see how you guys would react. Can't you all tell? It actually surprised me. And no Conza, I was purposely allusive in my satirical attempt.

Dumbasses ;):D

See, that's better, right?

Isn't satire supposed to be funny?

It was funny to me, and besides, relax!

I thought all you've read my posts enough in the past to know better, but I guess not.

Good lord wake the F*&K UP!

Dude, if you couldn't figure out just how overboard my statement was, you need to wake up.

But, whatever, it just went a little further than I thought it would've.:cool:
