I am in Orange County and this email may have been broadcast to the San Diego meetup. An email was sent to all meetups telling everyone to use paper ballots instead of electronic voting. We did a poll among our meetup and 76% voted via absentee ballot or paper ballot.

None of these votes were included in the results from last night. The paper ballots and absentee ballots will be counted within the 30 day certification process. This is all true. I called the Orange County registrars office and confirmed it.

So the chances are we did not come in last place with 4%.

I don't know how widespread this email was but the paranoia hurt us in the end.

wow, I thought they had those electronic scanning machines so that they could count the paper ballots last night, fast. I voted with a paper ballot in San Bernardino county.

It may be different in San Bernardino county. Check with your registrar office.

This is what I know FOR SURE HAPPENED.

1. A friends wife switched from Independent to Republican to vote for Ron Paul. When she went to vote, her party was STILL Independent and WOULD NOT give her a provisionary ballot. Even after she demanded one. No Ron Paul vote.

2. Another guy went to get a provisional ballot (another switched independent), and the poll worker convinced the guy to vote democratic because his vote won't count for the republicans.

Some serious things went down in california and this is business as usual and accepted.

WHY no laws are in place to help this and stop this, is beyond me.

Apparently there were some issues in Cali that need to be addressed.

Just watched this - a MUST SEE - to see that there were "lots and lots" of Republican voter registration errors in Cali.

One Ron Paul voter's story of being forced to cast a "provisional" vote - like in Louisiana - the registration dude almost gets violent

This is WAR people - they're stealing our country right in front of our eyes

This could explain why the exit polls had us at 5-7%, while the results came in at 4%.

I voted Absentee here in Tulare County, I wonder if the situation is the same here too.

This is some serious bullshit. I voted paper ballot thinking that this would be safer, however I heard the paper ballots will be counted over the next 30 days. WTF!

The gentleman in front of me at the voting booth was listed as an Independent but was requesting a republican ballot. The ladies working at the booth had NO idea what was going on and kept trying to convince him to vote democrat or independent. They BARELY spoke english.

I tried to help the man, but there was just too much confusion going on and it really seemed like the poll workers had no freaking idea what they were doing.

I myself was registered as a republican, but I had to HAND them my voter registration card at the county registrars, because even though I had mailed one in the week before, when I called the voter office, they still had me listed as independent!!!

EVEN though I was registered correctly, they STILL tried to hand me a provisional ballot. Thankfully I'm literate and ALERT. And I insisted on a regular republican ballot. But I had to do so IN CHINESE.

What if I wasn't bilingual? What if I wasn't already knowledgeable and prepared?

The support in socal is strong, not astronomical, but FFS it's more than 4%.

I dunno. I'm pretty pissed off right now. I hate to resort to conspiracy theories to explain our loss, especially since it's so easy just to blame anyone other than yourself.

I didn't notice anything fishy, but things were not as I expected at all.

Funny you say that, they had my party wrong the first time I registered too. I tried to fix it over the phone, but when I called back a few days later, it wasn't fixed so I re-registered.

hmmm... i didnt even see an electronic ballot at my poll. they were all paper as far as i could tell.

They were all paper in Burbank.

I got a regular republican ballot - # 000030 for LA county.
