Snowden "has not entered Russia"

[US officials] say Prism cannot be used to target intentionally any Americans or anyone in the US, [...]

o_O

Well, then, what $@%$*# "good" is the goddam thing supposed to be?! I mean, isn't that supposed to be whole frakkin' POINT?!?!

... "We need PRISM to catch terrorists! But we can't actually target anyone with it!" ...

I swear - the brazen, bald-faced mendacity of these assholes beggars all description.

The only thing more staggering is the idea that anyone with two functioning brain cells to rub together could actually swallow this bullshit.

And yet.............

I guess I'm just jaded, it no longer surprises me that people can swallow the stuff fed to them.

Oh, I know exactly what you mean. That's why I didn't say anything about being surprised. :)

It's like watching a naked magician pull rabbits out of his ass. He's a magician, so you're not really surprised - you're expecting a trick.

But you still can't help but be amazed. "How the hell does he do that?"

Ecuador grants asylum to former NSA agent

Brasília - The Foreign Minister of Ecuador, Ricardo Patiño, confirmed the granting of asylum to American Edward Snowden, former agent of the National Security Agency of the United States (whose acronym is NSA). Snowden is accused by the U.S. government to reveal the monitoring of communications on the internet and phone calls.

Patiño said that asylum was granted because Snowden runs "danger of persecution" in the United States. "The man who tried to bring transparency to the facts that affect everyone is persecuted by those who ought to explain to governments and citizens," said the chancellor.

Snowden sent a letter to the president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, to seek asylum. The Chancellor read the correspondence, in which the U.S. says it may be "arrested and executed" on the charge of spying for the U.S. authorities.

The U.S. reported that the NSA and the U.S. Federal Police (FBI) had access to phone records. He also had access to Internet servers, such as Microsoft, Yahoo, Google and Facebook. The secret program, code named Prism, is active since 2007 and allows the NSA to connect to corporate servers to query information about users.

Snowden worked in a private company subcontracted by the NSA.

Meanwhile, Kerry 'threatening' Putin

*KERRY SAYS U.S. NOT LOOKING FOR 'CONFRONTATION' ON SNOWDEN CASE
*KERRY SAYS RUSSIA SHOULD RESPECT RULE OF LAW ON SNOWDEN

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Snowden will not be extradited to the United States, the AP reports:

Putin said that Snowden hasn't crossed the Russian border and is free to go anywhere.

Speaking on a visit to Finland Tuesday, he added that Russian security agencies "didn't work and aren't working" with Snowden. He gave no more details.

Commenting on a U.S. request to extradite him, Putin said that Russia doesn't have an extradition agreement with the U.S. and thus wouldn't meet the U.S. request.

He voiced hope that Snowden will depart as quickly as possible and that his stopover at Moscow's airport wouldn't affect bilateral ties.

lol! In the 'JUST-US' system of corrupt; Attorneys, Judges, & Courts. From the government mouth of a clown that's arming terrorists, overthrowing foreign governments and countries, spying on every single citizen and building a database on them, violation of human rights, targeted assassinations... even at US citizens, killing 100s of children overseas, and a government corrupt to the bone, bought & paid for by every money interest you can think of... "Rule of Law" HAH! Kerry and his comments are joke.

Snowden is nowhere near Russia. If he is that stupid, he is strapped to a russian-equivalent-waterboard and being probed for intel. Once they extract every last bit of intelligence from him, harvest his laptop data, they will dump his corpse in an elevator shaft and give the US a call saying "he must have committed suicide"
