Smug Walter Block, EPJ outwitted by Rand Paul

*sigh* I already did ...

If you don't care for the answer, perhaps you should ask a more sensible question. In any case, I very seriously doubt that Walter Block is going to refrain from speaking what he (rightly or wrongly) believes to be the truth - utterly regardless of whether it "helps" or "hurts" "your" goal. (I am also fairly certain that he wouldn't give a pair of fetid dingos' kidneys about being on your "enemies list" ...)

Fine,so if I consider him, along with Jennifer Rubin,William Kristol and Eleanor Clift as my enemies in getting Rand Paul Elected,I shouldn't give a pair of fetid dingos' kidneys whether it helps or hurts my goal?

WB,along with Paul Krugman and anybody else can write whatever they want about Rand Paul. Will I be Breathlessly Hyperbolic every time I bring it up over the next three and a half years?

I'm seriously tempted not to vote for Rand Paul now...

i will start promoting ron paul after rand paul wins presidency.. i see no contradiction between the goals really.. rand getting elected being the intermediate step

the next step would be to show people ron and rand aren't that different, sort of the reverse of what ron's been doing to rally the movement right now, but i'm not gonna rock rand's boat until 2017

I don't know. Should you?

I agree with Block that Rand Paul is being unprincipled in supporting McConnell, REGARDLESS of the Syria vote.

Unprincipled like Murray Rothbard supporting George Bush, Pat Buchanan, Ross Perot, David Duke, or Lyndon Johnson over Goldwater? Or more like unprincipled like Ron Paul supporting Lamar Smith and earmarking the hell out of the bills? And didn't Walter Block endorse Gary Johnson, who had never even read Economics in One Lesson?

The fact of the matter is Mitch McConnell is the Senate Minority leader with almost unlimited funds in the bank. He is a huge favorite to win. The upside for endorsing McConnell is pretty substantial.

I honestly don't know anything about Perot, and I view Buchanan as being "On our side" even though he isn't perfect. I know Duke is a racist, but I honestly don't know much about what his actual politics are, so I'll reserve judgment there too. But George Bush? HECK yes, Rothbard was unprincipled on that occasion. As was Ron Paul when he endorsed Lamar Smith.

Walter's endorsement of Gary Johnson? Meh. At least he didn't endorse Romney or Obama. I supported Johnson back then, and I'd probably still vote for him as a protest vote if those were the choices I had, unless I lived in a state where Ron Paul write-ins counted.

And Ron Paul supporting Lamar Alexander and Don Young was what?

I'm not suggesting Ron Paul was perfect either.

Ultimately, Block is correct, as he's said on other occasions, that endorsements are not necessarily anti-libertarian per say. But I still don't like it. We should be looking to destroy the enemies of liberty (metaphorically speaking) not to cozy up to them.

So Ted Cruz, who is very well versed in classical economics, is horrible? But Pat Buchanan who believes strongly in tariffs and closed borders is "on our side?"

I mean I like both, even with their deviations.

Show me where Pat supported murder and I'll retract my claim that he's on our side.

Ted Cruz is Israel's whore. That's worse than ANYTHING you can say about economics.

Yeah,Murray Rothbard endorsed GB #41 AFTER gulf war one.Remember that one?Making the World safe for Serfdom.
But maybe that is the reason you like Murray, maybe you get a tingle up your leg every time you think about the highway of death.

Guys, you are forgetting something that is pretty important, at least from where I am sitting. Because of his relationship with McConnell, Rand has gotten on some choice committees that he would never have gotten on without McConnell's backing. Because of that, Rand has been able to rock the boat in ways that never would have been possible, otherwise.

None of us likes McConnell's voting record, but if Rand has gotten the Minority Leader to vote against a war with Syria, it sounds to me like Rand is using that relationship to its fullest.

In my opinion, Rand has been nothing short of a genius since he has been in the Senate. It's amazing how much he has done in such a short time and how he has managed to traverse most every alligator-filled moat that has been put in his path. Walter Block is a fine man, but knows zip about politics, as evidenced by his little ditty about evicting the fetus he presented at Ron's rally at the RNC; a rally which was intended to show republicans that we weren't unhinged weirdos. So much for that. So yeah, I have to agree that I wish some of our own guys would give Rand some measure of room before they feel the need to pontificate; so that they aren't serving as useful idiots for the bad guys.

The presumption is that winning political elections is all that matters.

That said, much as I cringe at times, I still like and respect Rand.

Its starting to really tick me off when you say crap like this. You are just exiting puberty, and have no influence whatsoever, while rand paul is busy leading this torn nation back to freedom.

What gives you the audacity to think you can sit here on the interwebz and talk like RAND makes YOU cringe just blows my mind and is starting to show that you don't know shit about anything, YOU just want everyone here to think that YOU are the more pure person, and that my friend is a big lie.

Get off your high horse and loose the fantasy that YOU matter.

Yes. Winning elections IS all that matters at this point. Breaking the grip of tyrants on the executive branch, and subsequently over the minds of politically apathetic Americans should be the first and foremost goal of any liberty loving American.
