All,

I have 46 pounds of Sterling I would like to move quickly. Any ideas???? I am for real. I would like to recycle it for GOLD. Prefer to work with individuals if at all possible as This was aquired overseas.

Thanks

i would go to your local coin store and trade with them... they would probably be happy to trade you gold for silver.

or you could sell it on ebay.

From Nigeria? ;)

Just have to remember it isn't pure silver and adjust the price accordingly.

Sterling silver is an alloy of silver containing 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper.

Acquired overseas...how specifically? Raid a pirate ship?

If that is standard pounds, then that would be about 620.52 troy ounces of silver there.

I feel you I have a statue over 50 lbs of 99.5 silver that I acquired in Mexico and been thinking of selling or converting to bars but am worried about not getting a good deal or people cutting off the top.

At melt value that should work out to
736oz * 11.87 = $8,736.32 but hyperinflation is likely happen soon so you'll want to get it to gold asap.

Since they are such big bars it may be hard to find a buyer, Since 1oz silver rounds are in very high demand try calling around to independent mints, they may offer you gold and silver coins as a exchange.

And what would that work out to be a current market value? They are in two huge bars.

If Dr.3D's math is correct, I think the silver content would be worth about $7500 (at $12/oz). What a dealer would actually give you for it, I don't know.

50 lbs is about 730 troy ounces. At $12/oz, it's worth about $8700.

Whether or not now is the best time to sell, I don't know that either. I'd hang on to it for a while I think, but what you do is up to you!

I kicking myself in the ass for not selling at $21 an ounce. Does anyone know anything about smelting I want to convert it into bars.

If your planning melting it down into smaller parts, I recommend consulting with a independent mint or dealer for trade instead. You should be able to trade it for smaller bars/coins. Also having a seal of the mint helps it preserve value and maintain trustworthiness.

There should be quite a few mints in the US, here is one that buys http://bullion.nwtmint.com/sellingbullion.php
