Silver now trading at $18 per ounce. Gold at $1,070

I bought most of my silver at $12/ounce, but I don't consider this a good thing. It just means that there's a higher likelihood of some really bad times in the near future.

yup.. but I am hoping it will go back down at least one last time before then.

I'm still buying 20-40 ounces a month for now. I don't think it's begun to reach the level of ridiculous yet.

Yeah, silver is taking a dump. I'm kinda pissed, because I was going to place an order, but I won't have the funds for another weekish.

You might be able to get away with it on APMEX.

I accidently bounced a check with them once, but they were quite nice and held it for a couple of days until I got a double draft resolved (my student loan came out twice ).

I have bought from APMEX, but I'd rather buy from the store 5 minutes down the road. That way I pay in cash, and get better deals since I don't have to pay for shipping. Sure, sometimes I end up with "Baby's First Christmas 2006," but it's silver. They also have a decent selection of 5 & 10 oz bars.

I do that unless my local shop is charging a high premium. When demand is up, they raise it sometimes to $2.50 or $3.00 over spot. Otherwise, it might be only $1.00 over. APMEX charges as little as 79 cents over spot.

My local shop always charges $0.79 over spot on plain rounds. It's a really great place and I'm quite thankful it's down the street. There are other places here in York that charge a heck of a lot more over spot. I avoid their stores.

Sucks to be you then :D

GL with the metals, everyone :D

By the way, how come no one here was talking about the copper play? I believe I called that a long while ago, and had you invested in copper related investments you'd be making out a bit better than with gold :)

Ummm How so? Coppers was $4/lb. It is now $2.80/lb. Anyone who bought in 2008 is down about 25%. Anyone who has bought gold in 2008 is up at least $50. If you bought on the lows, you are up $200-300.

APMEX charges way too much if you buy by credit card. Their prices on the metals are way over spot. Plus their shipping is not very cheap. I would buy from Northwest Territorial Mint if you are buying over 50 ounces silver or 5 ounces gold. Free shipping plus they charge hardly nothing over spot.

Endafed how are there shipping times ?? I bought from them about a year ago, and it took about 8 weeks to recieve my order. They had a lot of bad press at the time about that.

Eh? Shipping at APMEX tops out at $25. I bought 60 pounds worth of bullion one time, and it still only cost $25.

Also, how is .79 over spot for silver "way over spot"? Their brand name stuff like Eagles and Maples are cheaper than what my local coin shops sell them for...
