An article I saw on FB and thought was worth sharing:

Signs You’re in A Cult – The Cult of “Authority” or “The State”

Most people are aware of cults. Some are more familiar than others, having actually been in one, or having a loved one who was or still is. Religious cults are the most obvious. In addition there are self-help cults and marketing cults.
Some critics have accused the liberty movement as being a cult. However, when you break it down, it doesn’t fit the parameters. Really what is happening, is those accusing liberty-oriented people of being cult members are just projecting. Whether they realize it or not, they are deep within a cult of their own. It’s a cult so pervasive and effective, that people don’t realize they are a part of it.
Until a better name is put forth, I’d call it the Authority Cult. In Larken Rose’s excellent book, “The Most Dangerous Superstition”, he clearly outlines how the belief in “authority” is incredibly destructive to the ends of peace. It’s an excellent and enlightening read.
There are classic signs you are in a cult, and the Authority Cult is replete with them:

Brainwashing Techniques
...
...
Charismatic Leaders
...
...
Rituals
...
...
Jargon
...
...
Culture of Fear

After watching those big Ron Paul rallies I got a creepy feeling. Are these people worshiping Ron Paul? It sure seemed that way. Chanting, "Ron Paul Ron Paul..." was creeping me out.

No doubt. I wish these idiots would wake up and realize that chanting never accomplished a thing. Ever.
I firmly believe that we might have a little more street cred if people hadn't started that GD chanting thing at every opportunity.

The message. After the chanting it's all about the message. I always hear LIBERTY! LIBERTY!

Just like when folks are negative about Paul -I never take that as dissing Paul but as dissing Liberty.

Like like the perfect straw for a delicious milk shake, the straw is just the instrument of delivery. It's best when it doesn't stand between you and the milk shake.

Don't diss or ignore the milk shake by obsessing on the straw! A proven straw at that.:)

Beware of false idols :) , I think the Religion threads should require a paid subscription and only be open four days per week :)

Basically every religion in the world.

Yah. But it doesn't have to be that way. Jesus specifically told His followers not to Lord over each other. Instead He gave them the Holy Spirit and that was a gift that they were supposed to share. Each person connected to the Holy Spirit was to become a spoke in a wheel instead of a brick in a pyramid. But alas man's ego got in the way.

the media tried saying stefan molyneux is a cult leader

He is pretty cultish if you ask me. I don't like him. He's definitely worse than Ron Paul, Tom Woods, or Adam Kokesh, whom could all also be called cultish (Ron not so much, but unfortunately, some people do accuse him of that). If anyone of us is cultish, it's him.

Totally agree. I don't like him either.
