Sign Waves and Super Brochures? No.

What is this graph supposed to be? It looks like it could be a line from some random graph with a new heading slapped on it. I'm not saying it is, but how did you come up with those numbers and attribute the success to the super brochure?

Great question.

It is the daily polling data from Real Clear Politics. You can go to their site and find it. This chart shows the percentage growth from Ron Paul's base number of 11% on December 1, 2011 in Iowa.

Two big mailings went into Iowa. The drop dates are where the chart spikes up 50-60% then flattens and spikes up again. Can I prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is directly from the Super Brochure? No. But when you mail over 600,000 Super Voters' homes a brochure, I think it might have a result. Over ONE MILLION Ron Paul Super Brochures went into Iowa. Politico (you know the really famous political web site) said it was because of the Super Brochure.

The Super Brochures are TARGETED to the right people. Republican Super Voters decide primaries. If a Super Voter doesn't know your candidate, they won't vote for them. And I hate to tell people but a lot of people in Iowa do not know who Rand Paul is.

Again, I will ask why post negative attack threads on what people should NOT do?????

Why don't you post what you ARE DOING? Lead by example!!!

INSPIRE OTHERS TO BE LIKE YOU!!!

How many telephone calls have you made?
How many doors have you knocked on?
Post pictures of your phone banking centers.
Post videos of walking your neighborhoods?

Here is one of my past phone banking centers:

Because I know what you did last time around, Curt. You and I spoke on the phone several times. You are a nice guy, but you did harm to Ron and I do not want you to do it to Rand too!!

If you want to help, then send out the campaign's brochures. Organize people to participate in the campaign's phone-banking. Offer your services to canvass.

But, please do not do this Super Brochure.

Super Brochures are incredible and get results. Yes sticky why people should be using them.

As usual, you ignore that Ron's campaign was spending millions of $ in ads at the same time. The super brochures were just another mailing among many. I don't know that they hurt. But to suggest that they are the one reason Ron's support rose is ludicrous. Anyone who knows anything at all about campaigning sees this.

I can't believe this scam artist is still allowed to post here. I don't think he's delusional. I think he may actually understand that what he's doing is HURTING, and he doesn't care, because he found a way to convince gullible people to give him money.

Radiofriendly is right.

Sign waves can be fun though and can do what tangent says, but they cannot be the only thing. I think the point the OP was making is that you get more bang for the buck/effort with other approaches.

Yeah, I hope I didn't come across as saying sign waves are 100% bad. The main principle I want to lay out here is the painful necessity of reaching out to likely Republican voters. The trick is many of us Rand Paul folks used to be Ron Paul folks and, by definition, we aren't your average likely voter. In my opinion, where we get into trouble is when we think that your average citizen is going to approach our motivating issue just like us. When the truth is, we are a bunch of weirdos lol! A bunch of snowflakes in some small part like our hero, Ron Paul.

In response to the idea that 'it'd be nice to walk into every house of the USA, but it's just not practical', so let's send them a kitchen sink flyer that will show them why they should love Ron Paul and become a snowflake, just like me!

Statistically speaking, we know who has a history of voting in a Republican primary. The campaign has that data - your local GOP has that data with maps to all of the houses. You actually do have time to physically go talk to all of those voters - or a good portion of them.

Amen to that. I remember I was banned from DailyPaul back in 2011 because I suggested that Curt Schulz's SuperBrochure may actually cause more harm than good. Of course DailyPaul was in on the scam but I sincerely hope that we don't go through this again. The SuperBrochure absolutely lost Ron Paul votes in 2011 because it contained photographs of dead US soldiers. Please do not support this self-serving opportunist and instead consider donating money to Rand Paul's actual campaign or any of the various SuperPacs that are supporting him.

The superbrochure looks nice, but isnt targeted info more better? People might not like everything they read. Maybe it takes one stance to turn the voter off.

You just want to tell the voter just enough and on stances they are more likely to agree with. You dont want to oversell with extra information and risk having the voter reading something they dont like.

Rand's campaign is devoid of ANY energy right now. I'd actually be encouraged if I saw sign waves and people handing out brochures.

Yeah. I don't understand why there aren't efforts here to get people to participate in Rand's campaign's phone from home, or any other volunteer work for his campaign. Instead people seem more interested in griping about Trump, than helping Rand.

The critics will never acknowledge your brochure got national attention. Think about that for a second. A simple brochure was featured on national tv, can anyone tell me when another grassroots handout garnered that kind of attention? That's how eye-popping and effective it was. Everyone in Iowa I talked to loved them. Heck, some people still to this day leave the occasional Ron Paul brochure on planes and strategic places for other people to read because they're so informative and thought provoking.

Who cares? What matters are the votes. Not to mention the fact that no Republican voters would be watching that program.

Were these already RP supporters?

I'm sure. But, we are trying to get votes now. Not put on an educational campaign. Working against a candidate's campaign is never a smart thing to do and that is exactly what this brochure did.

Do you even realize they linked to 9-11 truther videos?

There's really not much to get excited about when Rand is the status-quo lite candidate. His garbled and disingenuous foreign policy talk motivates nobody, nada, zero, zilch. It turns off Ron's base and the rank-and-file GOP voter has much better (stronger in their eyes) candidates on foreign policy. Rand has stacked out an area where he's too hawkish for libertarians and too timid for the average republican.

Sign waves are FUN. Generic brochures are a waste.

Winning comes down to RAND. How does he comes across to the voters i.e. hip, cool, presidential? Has he touched a nerve? Has he moved emotions on issues like abortion, immigration, jobs, war fatigue, etc.? Do the voters RELATE to him? How does Rand package himself and his policies into a generic marketing tactic? For Clinton it was "the economy stupid." For Obama, it was "Change! Yes we can."

Then, it's all about how you handle the media and the attacks.

Yes, to be popular with the libertines, he would need to be a pacifist. To be popular with the hawks, he would need to be an Israel-first, the U.S. needs to dictate to the entire world and overthrow every government who wants to live their own way, warmonger.

He needs to be able to get some air time. Trump sucked all the air out of the room when he started running.

Do you have data showing counties where the brochure were distributed vs. not distributed showing a suppression of the vote? You're making the claim that the brochure hurt Ron's raw numbers, so me the data for that claim otherwise stop making stuff up. I could change my opinion on the brochure if you actually showed me evidence.

Were these already RP supporters?

No, these were regular voters when I went door knocking. I also spoke with some die hard Ron Paul supporters that were on the ground in Iowa, nobody was "OMG we have got to stop this brochures, they're killing us!". There was actually a shortage of literature in many places so they were overjoyed to get a box of brochures for their canvasing efforts.

Do you even realize they linked to 9-11 truther videos?

I'd be more concerned with Ron's Newsletters with the racial overtones. That's what gets a million times more attention and eyeballs; not some fine-printed footnoted link on a brochure. Plus, you're bound to run into all kinds of conspiracies when googling Ron. Especially when you start investigating the Federal Reserve. Nobody raged about a video link and I handed out thousands.

I say use the official flyer, it is a short read and contains good info. (most voters aren't going to read a long article, but will read a short flyer with the main campaign points)
