Some may be reluctant to be a Precinct Leader because they do not want to make phone calls or go door to door. Some are shy, some just don't have time.

Simple solution: Use the Precinct Leader database to find Independent/Republican voters in your area, print up a short, simple, polite letter with information about Ron Paul and mail it out! Also include a slim jim if you'd like.

I'd suggest the letter be written as if you were talking to your grandmother. You don't know the age of the people you're mailing to, so be polite and write something that's fitting to all age groups.

This is also a way to prevent from calling people during supper or at a bad time. People will be more likely to sit down and read in peace than listen to a phone call or someone at their door.

I'm just going to try to overcome the shyness and get out there. I'm not afraid to say it scares the crap out of me, though.

I'm shy too, which is why I was reluctant to sign up as well. But after I joined and looked through the database, I thought "I can just write letters"

I'm not really shy, just not much of a joiner. But I took the plunge.

get to it folks. as someone in here said earlier today all that matters now is money, votes, and delegates. I'm at least going for two out of three.

I'm shy too, and I also can't afford to send the thousands of people in my precint a letter, so my plan is to do some lit drops. Just stick a pamphlet over their door handle or in their fence. I know I at least glance at everything that's left on my door, so I am sure many people also read literature that is left for them. Also, I am generally from the outset confrontational to people that show up on my doorstep wanting to peddle me things, whether it is a product to buy or a political ideal to believe in. I like to be left alone to relax when I am at home, because I don't get much time here. Perhaps that's just me, but in order to not be a hypocrite I can't find it in me to bother my neighbors.

Just don't stick stuff in mailboxes unless it's actually been mailed, because I think it's illegal to stick non-mailed things in them.

Stamp-wise it would be about 42 bucks per 100 letters.

42 dollars to educate 100 people seems fair to me. Nothing worth having is free.

I'm sort of shy, but more than that I've been told I give off a "something's not quite right with you" vibe, and have always feared I would hurt the campaign. Because of that I haven't signed up for the Precinct Leader movement. However thanks to this very post, I am going to reconsider that. Thanks!

The shyness wears of after a few face to face encounters. I took the plunge by going to New Hampshire and making phone calls (which I hate) and canvassing (which I also hate). But it became easier the more I did it. Just be friendly and courteous. If you interrupted their dinner, just apologize and leave; don't try to leave literature, it will just go in the trash. just try another time.

I'll be sending self-typed up letters so it saves time and ads a personal touch. I figure I'll start with "My name is James Richard and I'm a volunteer for the Ron Paul for President campaign."

Then a short paragraph on my opinion of him, then a summary of his views and voting history, then a short conclusion asking for their vote.

I might also include slim jims.

I'm the same way. I'm more likely to read something left on my front step than sit through a phone call or talk to someone at my door.

I wasn't sure being a precinct leader would work for me since I am deaf and cannot really use the phone, plus talking at the door is just asking for too much trouble with misunderstood words. I thought about letters, but wasn't sure whether that was an acceptable alternative. This thread may make me reconsider now though!

It's true some people don't like to be bothered at home - but old/retired people absolutely love it. A visitor will make their day.
