Webcams have presented a security liability for years, yet many of us don't cover them up. Should we? Edward Snowden, Mark Zuckerberg, and former FBI director James Comey all seem to — but none of us are celebrities or heads of state, so what good does it do us?

Well, not much! Tape might give you some peace of mind because it thwarts webcam attacks well, but the reality is that cameras and microphones are everywhere now, including in your voice-enabled TV remote, your Alexa device, and your phone. You can't easily disable or tape over a microphone, and audio clips can be just as damaging as video content.

I address all this in the above video, so watch, enjoy, and think about hackers watching you sleep at night. But don't think too hard about it because that's scary.

Anyone who buys a Camera / Microphone and allows it to connect to the internet is pretty much just asking for surveillance. Alexa now already will call the cops automatically. Trouble is that it isnt just Alexa or Google Home, its your computer and smart phone and tv, and refrigerator and everything else that demands an internet connection. Your web browser on your desktop computer typically comes with a microphone built right in so you can speak out what youre searching for instead of typing it in. Think Google doesnt constantly listen? Think that your Facebook app, that requires access to your phones camera and mic is not listening at all times? Oh, but they are just using it for targetted advertising? It has access to them at ALL TIMES. So does every other creepy app that listens to you 24 / 7.

The noose is now around our necks, but they havent yanked hard on the leash yet. Give it time. They will start to pull slowly and only tug lightly at first, and only to those whose behavior the powers that be deem excessively unacceptable at first. When things really start to go down hill, you'll see them yanking hard on that digital leash for even the most minor behaviors they deem unacceptable. Say goodbye to sleeping in on weekends, brushing your teeth too long, having bacon in your fridge, or anything that anyone may be offended by. Talk trash about politics never achieving anything good for the majority of the people? Expect a visit from the cops or some sort of behavioral "service". Get upset about illegal immigration? You'll be the one on the hook and you'll get a visit from ICE, but they wont go after the immigrants themselves.

Think a PERSON is listening? Ha ha ha! NO. All this AI crap they are coming up with is going to be used to scan and monitor the contents of every aspect of your life.

Without privacy, every subjectively interpreted thing you do will be held against you, because it is profitable to companies.
