Should Rand Support Trump

I dont think the jabs against Trump are an issue, its just politics. Rand can do more for us being out of Kentucky.

How would he be able to do more for us in a position taking orders from someone whose agenda is diametrically opposed to ours than he could in the US Senate?

Not just bizarre.

Outright inexplicable.

We deserve a lot better explanation than we got. He explicitly promised that he was "in it to win it".

No it is very explainable. He lost. He wasn't getting into the New Hampshire debate. He was polling at 2% in New Hampshire. He clearly was in to win. But He had no way to win. He put up the money for the Kentucky Caucus as well as getting on the ballot for every state before their deadlines. It is hard to become President. You can try to win but the odds are you won't. Running a campaign costs money. He has a Senate reelection. Staying in would have been inexplicable. I don't see how it is so hard to understand this.

Anyone who supports Trump is a degenerate feeble brain. Rand isn't endorsing Trump in the primary. Rand would endorse Lindsay Graham before he would endorse this guy.

He holds grudges for a long time that Trump guy. heh.

In defense of Rand...maybe he or his family were threatened.

Anybody who thinks that is outside the realm of possibility, does not understand how this system works.

It is also not outside the realm of possibility that Rand just decided, "Fuck this bullshit! I'm goin' home ..."

(And if so, my esteem for him would only increase.)

No, under no circumstances should Rand ever endorse or otherwise support Trump.

If/when the opportunity presents itself, he should actively attack him.

Yup. Why on earth would Rand support this clown? No, instead Rand will be in the Senate the next 4 years fighting to stop the authoritarian agenda of a President Trump. All the Trumpkins on here bashing Rand and praising Trump will probably come to their senses in about 2 years and will be back here commending Paul, pretending they never liked Trump.

That's if he hasn't shut down RPF by then just because he doesn't like it.

No. Rand should not support Trump. He should not take a position in his cabinet. Rand is doing the right thing by trying to keep his senate seat. He will be necessary to help block the next president's tyrannical agenda. I hope he doubles down and works even harder working to restore constitutional government. Rand did what he could to become POTUS. But, alas, our nation is so dumbed down, people no longer know a good thing when they see it.

Honestly, I think Rand should endorse Cruz.

Endorsing Cruz to stop Trump is futile in the primary (Trump's a lock), and unnecessary in the general (Hillary's a lock).

Any endorsement Rand gives should be designed to improve his (and thus our) position within the GOP post-election (rather than influence the outcome of the election).

Would endorsing Cruz accomplish that?

...seems to me it would only encourage Cruz and the like to continue co-opting the liberty movement.

Now, if Cruz somehow managed to win the primary, then naturally Rand would endorse him - but endorsing him in the primary is different.

I see lots of risk with little upside.

To elaborate on that:

March 5

March 8

March 15

http://www.businessinsider.com/donald-trump-polls-leads-florida-michigan-ohio-2016-3

If you take the results from states that have already voted, and assume upcoming states vote as indicated above, Trump would have 647 delegates on March 15 (52%).

I used this delegate allocation tool.

EDIT: Well, this may have to be revised. Looks like the polls in Kansas were way off, like 30+ points off.

I hope he doesn't say yay or nay for anyone. Sit out any endorsements so nothing comes back and bites him in 2020. Lesson learned from endorsing McConnell... alot of people were butt hurt when he endorsed him. Just spend the next 4 years defending our Constitution and calling out whoever our next president is (regardless of party) every time they are a douche to our rights.

Honestly, anyone endorsing Cruz is an anti-American scumbag wishing to overthrow the Constitution and usurp the Presidency by installing a born natural subject of the English Crown.

(mod edit)

I would like to see Rand in a high office position. I think trump wants Trey Gowdy for attorney general. It would be cool to have Rand as Sec of State. All while Hillary rots in jail. Rand is too valuable to be a sitting duck in Kentucky for the next 4 years.

Discuss.

Rand will support the nominee, anybody but Clinton
