So what happens when you get hordes of supporters and then they happen to watch the news or a debate and see Ron Paul talking about abolishing the IRS? Wouldn't they feel tricked?

Would they even notice? People seem to eat up the amorphous rhetoric of McCain and Romney if they give the appearance of taking into account the practical implications of an idea. That's how the "And what happens when we leave Iraq?" argument seems to have so much sway, even though it is an argument based on false presuppositions.

It sounds like she's wanting us to sort of hide some of Ron Paul's more controversial positions? So what happens when you get hordes of supporters and then they happen to watch the news or a debate and see Ron Paul talking about abolishing the IRS?

this is really the core of the problem. no amount of strategizing on the part of the grassroots can compensate for a total disdain for strategizing on the part of dr paul.

Oh. We asked that. She wasn't happy at all that he kept bringing up these issues.

Probably because she was pointing out all the things they were doing wrong?

Your probably right. The main people at HQ have shown themselves to be incompetent . Even the simple task of preparing a defense against TNR article was too much for them. they knew it was coming and yet they did nothing. With 2 5th place finishes I cant imagine this Andrews lady could have been any worse...

I'm in favor of whoever can put a sugar coat on this tough pill to swallow at this point. Americans clearly need it.

She was good with the numbers part. Someone needed to be on the bookwork end of this, and apparently, no one was. But some of her suggestions were detrimental--at least here. I won't even go into them on a public board, but we were on fire and ready to go after the Straw Poll. She failed to stoke that fire.

I think it all came down to goals.

1. Have a Revolution.
or
2. Win the election.

She was telling us how elections are usually won. Many grassroots supporters were more interested in doing what the felt needed to be done for a Revolution.

Take whatever you want from that...

Intelligent post. Thank you.

I don't know but according to the posts here, she sounds smart. I really fear the grassroots are getting too fanatic and turn voters off. Especially women and older people who are no more in this "rebellion" phase of life. Now with hunting down unfavorable reporters, yelling at other voters and starting this conspiracy "vote fraud" thing, this gets out of control. The grassroots put us on the map, but now they are pushing it too far.

the grassroots just sound a little boisterous and disorganized. it sounds like she seemed a little dry, but she had valid points. NHQ should communicate with the volunteers better.

Oh. We asked that. She wasn't happy at all that he kept bringing up these issues.

and maybe not "abolish the IRS" but cut spending back, particularly overseas spending, to 10 years ago, and phase out the IRS altogether during Paul's first term.

We know nothing about how to win actual votes.

97% of the population does not want a revolution. But a majority are sympathetic to a large number of our views if properly presented.

While I think it is too late to start back where Anita left off, if would be good if she was an adviser and maybe made a video or two pointing people strategically in the right direction.

No - I attended her training session in Orlando and although some of her content was pretty good - I just didn't feel she was very effective.

I did not leave "charged up" with a feeling that I had a good plan in hand that we could execute to win.

Maybe thats because you don't win elections with "a good plan". You win with the tedious foot work of door knocking and personal one on one contact.

Anita Andrews knew what it took to get the vote. Did the teaparty bring in more than a small handful of outside supporters? Or was it just a huge party for current Paulities to get stoked?

I don't know if going back will change anything, and i don't know if she is any good. How about we make a short list, we know we need someone who has done this ( get a president elected).

I said last night when the results came in, Get me Carville. I really don't care who let's see a resume. We can bomb( money) the right one.

What we need is someone who knows not only how to book the good doctor but help control the message, not that is the message isn't good but the media is quick to lose focus. When he is introduced, he should screen what they call him. Presidential Candidate, not libertarian, not long shot, if they won't we won't do it. Grass roots is most effective in the hands of a lion tamer that knows how to check the media.

Not that we would change Dr. Paul, we know he would never change just to win, just have someone manage this and make it palatable to general public.

I was at my brothers today talkin up Ron, Took him to youtube played a Ron Paul Speech, he wound up sayin hell ya, F- those other countries, Why we given them money?

America has to see it 10,000 times in quick repetition before they even take the time to try and understand it.

get Me Carville, or someone like him.

No, I do not believe Anita would help at all esp. now. Have you ever dated someone then you break up and are happy for a while? After a few months of not hearing from them you begin to forget the tiny little problems that added up. So, you get back together and are quickly reminded of why you broke up.

That is exactly what bringing Anita back would be like. It would only be a waste of time, we just need to focus on our goal now.

I think it is a very good idea to hire a Press Agent or Consultant. You only have one shot for Ron Paul, if he is elected he will have a entire team of experts around him. You need to start building that team.

And all people should be welcome to work and support Ron Paul, but his message is not to get rid of anything, but to work to limit (you even hear him say, wouldn't that be great). We need our government, and he is a Congressman. I think his message needs to be focused on the Constitution, like he says. He is a very intelligent man, he needs to surround himself with the team that will bring him to the oval office. He takes advise now from his staffers who meet with citizens every day to handle issues in his home State. He knows how the government works, he just needs to get elected. You must change the look of this campaign now, if you plan to be forward with him. Take the front runner in the race right now, they are using a consulting agent or Press Person. Get a Press Person! The media will respect him trust me. Polish his look, but do it in a way that is transitional. He has a great ease about him, and this team has done a great job thus far from where he started. I would take it to the next level. And he honestly, he needs to pick someone for his running mate that will bring the ticket to the white house. That is done not by the grassroot level, it is done on the next level that is most needed to win the election or bring the needed votes to get him over the edge. There are tons of Senators, Congressman from every state that serve this country that he could select. The record of the person is key. so with all my thoughts here, you need a consultant. For Sure and immediately.

lol, though ididn't ash croft later lose to a dead guy?

He was elected many times as a senator. When he ran against Gov. Mel Carnahan and Carnahan was killed in a plane crash just days before the election in a close race, and Carnahan's name would still be on the ballot, and the governor said he would appoint the dead man's wife in his place, Ashcroft couldn't have won with the best political consultants in the world.

At this point, we need someone who has gotten ANYONE elected.

I never heard of the woman even though I've been a supporter since Day 1, but I can imagine that I wouldn't have taken kindly to her views against the Revolution banners, etc. In hindsight, yes, perhaps we should have taken her analysis into account. Our way didn't even work in New Hampshire. Middle-aged and older people don't want to join a revolution, they want someone who will make them feel safe and keep their Social Security checks rolling in.

I don't know who this Anita person is so I am not going to offer a direct opinion on her. But how about we all agree on this:

HQ and Ron need to bring on some new outside professionals...NOW.

I am talking about speech and debate coaches for Paul so that he can better articulate and condense his message and issues into attractive sound bites for the average joe American. I am not talking about changing the message in anyway I am talking about finding the most effective way for the message to appeal to the general public.

HQ needs new strategists that are not afraid to rock the boat and find a new direction for the campaign, because obviously after IA and NH what they had planned is obviously not working
