Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX), a candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, edged out former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney and former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman in the second to last 2012 New Hampshire Primary online straw poll Monday.

Mr. Paul pulled in 28 percent of the votes (1,844 votes) for a first place finish. Mr. Huntsman garnered 24 percent of the votes (1,586 votes) for a second place finish and Mr. Romney earned 23 percent of the votes (1,505 votes) for a third place finish.

Mr. Paul grabbed 2nd in a 7 New/Suffolk University poll of likely New Hampshire Republican primary voters released Tuesday. The Texas congressman grabbed 16 percent of the votes, but was bested by Mr. Romney’s 43 percent. Mr. Huntsman defeated former House Speaker Newt Gingrich by 1 percentage point. The former U.S. ambassador to China pulled in 10 percent of the votes in the 7 News/Suffolk University poll to finish in the top-tier of GOP candidates in New Hampshire.

While some commentators have already concluded that a Paul victory in the Hawkeye State will discredit the Iowa Caucuses, others are questioning whether the New Hampshire primary really matters.

The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza wrote Monday that “if Romney wins Iowa, the momentum from that somewhat-unexpected victory would make it next-to-impossible for any candidate to come close to beating him in the Granite State.” Mr. Cillizza adds that Mr. Romney’s rivals have acknowledged that statement and “seem to be doing all they can to downplay New Hampshire.”

The 2012 New Hampshire Primary straw poll is part of a series of online straw polls that have been conducted by 2012 New Hampshire Primary. Monday’s poll included 6,528 voters. The 2012 New Hampshire straw poll is not a scientific poll.

How was this straw poll conducted? It was online... what were the requirements?

Can someone on the ground in NH enlighten us (Shem)?

I'm right here in NH and didn't here a thing about this and I'm a ron paul addict 24/7. Also note in the article now some people are questioning NH primary's relevance

Fantastic. Regardless of whatever the format may have been, it's obviously still worth spreading as much as possible. We all know what the media would be doing with this if Huntsman somehow won it.

Also, I love how on the IA poll there that even Huntsman and Bachmann have more votes than Santorum. Some "surge" he had.

That can only mean that it's in play for RP, game on!

well once we win iowa and nh. Then south carolina will not matter as well as florida as we continue to WIN. Hell if we win the gop nomination or look like we are going to? I wouldn't be surprised to see the gop elite cancel conventions and disband the gop.

As he continues to win state after state the media will question the validity of each state's election. Then he'll get the nomination and they'll question the validity of the republican party then he'll be the 45th president and they will find themselves out of a job.

Who keeps posting the video "I always win" ??? I have opened several threads today and had this song start playing in my head!

Ron Paul edges out Romney, Huntsman in New Hampshire Primary straw poll

Pretty good, since that is 'Romney's state' and Huntsman is actually THERE. Not a small group, either:

In fact, I'd say Huntsman 'edged out' Romney for 2d. Ron just plain won.

Hit piece IMO. Telling you at the end of the article to ignore the first poll of NH. We blitz it out and later it backfires into giving them cred that Romney is in top right now. Or is debatable? Let's not give them an opportunity to discredit us.

Look if Huntsman won this the media would be having a collective you know what over it... lets spread this!
