Sheer Torture: Fred Thompson's Campaign Bus Tour of Iowa

He's just been put up to it by the corporate people to keep news off Ron Paul

I have to wonder that too. He came to Fairfield on Friday. I was at the local newspaper office placing an ad. A guy walked in and said "I am the advance man for Fred Thompson. He's coming into town in his bus in an hour and will stop by the newspaper and I just want to talk to whoever he'll be talking to." The receptionist seemed startled and said I guess that would be the editor. The editor came out, obviously annoyed they did not have the courtesy to give any notice of their arrival and he said "I am very busy right now." I asked the guy if Fred Thompson was doing any meetings - he said - "no he just wants to walk around and meet people on the street".

So much for his tour of Jefferson County. It was a total washout- everybody I know who saw him said the same thing. Next time he should ask his advance man to at least call in advance instead of just showing up and expect everybody to jump.
