Ukrainian Refugee Ordered Deported After Acquittal for Deaths of Seven Americans

JOHN BINDER 9 Feb 2023

A refugee from Ukraine, with a prior drunk driving conviction, has been ordered deported by a federal immigration judge after being acquitted on all charges of negligent homicide for the deaths of five United States Marine Corps Veterans and two of their loved ones.

Following the fatal June 2019 crash, 26-year-old refugee Volodymyr Zhukovskyy of Ukraine, was charged with seven counts of negligent homicide for allegedly killing five U.S. Marine Corps veterans and two of their loved ones when his trailer, hitched to his pickup truck, hit the motorcyclists.

Zhukovskyy, in August 2022, was acquitted by a jury on all charges. Now, he has been ordered deported to Ukraine by a federal immigration judge. Zhukovskyy is expected to appeal the deportation order.

The seven Americans were riding motorcycles together as members of the Jarheads Motorcycle Club, a group of U.S. Marine Corps veterans, their spouses, and loved ones. Those killed in the crash are:

62-year-old Michael Ferazzi of Contoocook, New Hampshire
59-year-old Albert Mazza of Lee, New Hampshire
58-year-old Daniel Pereira of Riverside, Rhode Island
58-year-old Jo-Ann Corr of Lakeville, Massachusetts
58-year-old Edward Corr of Lakeville, Massachusetts
42-year-old Desma Oakes of Concord, New Hampshire
45-year-old Aaron Perry of Farmington, New Hampshire

At the time of the crash, Breitbart News exclusively reported that Zhukovskyy originally entered the United States on September 18, 2006, as a refugee from Ukraine. He was later able to adjust his refugee status in 2008 and secure a green card.

More than a month before the deadly crash, the Ukrainian refugee was arrested in East Windsor, Connecticut. after he failed a sobriety test. Despite being arrested for drunk driving, the second time since 2013, Zhukovskyy’s driver’s license was not suspended and was valid when he allegedly hit and killed the seven American motorcyclists.

As Breitbart News reported in June 2019, RMV head Erin Deveney stepped down for failing to strip Zhukovskyy of his license after the Connecticut drunk driving arrest.

There may be some karma at work here.

Hmm. 26 years old and what to do back in Ukraine?

Maybe he can find some work in Bahkmut, as a shrapnel catcher.

jmdrake I don't seem to see any posts by you here.

And....you're surprised by that how? I told you I didn't see it. That said, what I don't see in this thread is any calls for mass deportation of all Ukrainian war refugees. In fact this thread started in 2019, which was before the Russian invasion and before Biden let in 219,000+ Ukrainians. But okay. Start a petition to demand Trump and J.D. Vance start demanding the deportation of hundreds of thousands and Ukranian refugees and I'll be sure to sign it.

In fact this thread started in 2019...

Let's see. 2019. Do I remember 2019?

Oh, yes. In 2019 a self-styled "master negotiator" who wrote a rather narcissistic book called The Art of the Deal was in the White House using the "bully pulpit" to get Americans to pressure Congress to buy him 1700 miles of steel so he could let it rust in the desert.

What I don't remember is that guy going on TV and saying, "I just found money in this budget earmarked for Catholic Charities and Doctors Without Borders paying them to import foreigners. So I have an artful deal for Congress: Transfer that money to my big beautiful wall so it can have a bigger, more beautiful door, and I won't make Congress stay over Christmas trying to override my veto while citizens run their office staff ragged phoning in their displeasure."

That's what I remember not happening in 2019.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to acptulsa again.

Wow! I hadn't heard about that. I'll need to research it. Thoughts Anti Federalist? Swordsmyth?

Yes, I recall that.

What's to say?

Another awful Trump move.

Ron would have vetoed every single budget that came across his desk, and Catholic Charities would have gotten shit.

Neither would have the Jews, who are pikers compared to Frankie the Red's outfit, but still receive tens of millions of dollars every year from US citizens, to fund their own destruction.

But alas, Ron is not president.

Trump did expose and oppose the NGO money:

Trump claimed, without any supporting evidence, that Democrats were behind the caravan, and raised conspiracy theories that the Central Americans had been paid to come to the United States for political reasons.
“Now we’re starting to find out – and I won’t say it 100%, I’ll put a little tiny question mark at the end. But we’re probably not going to need it, but we have the fake news back there,” he told the crowd, adding a familiar jab at news reporters covering his campaign appearances.
“A lot of money’s been passing through people to come up and try to get to the border by election day, because they think that’s a negative for us. Number one, they’re being stopped. And number two, regardless, that’s our issue.”
Trump appeared to be referring to a video posted by the Florida representative Matt Gaetz, which he claimed showed women and children being given cash to “storm the US border @ election time”. He suggested without evidence that the source could be “Soros? US-backed NGOs?” referring to George Soros, an American billionaire who is the frequent subject of rightwing conspiracy theories.

Former President Donald Trump has said that during his presidency, he cut federal funding to three Central American countries in order to "punish" them. He said he wanted to punish them immigrants kept coming from their countries to seek entry into the United States.

During a Thursday night interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, Ingraham played a clip of Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. In the clip, Pelosi said that Trump had withdrawn funding from Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador—three countries that make up a region called the Northern Triangle—in order to punish them.
Ingraham asked, "Mr. President, did you withdraw money from Central America to punish them?"
"Absolutely. That's right," Trump replied.
"We were paying them $500 million a year," Trump told Ingraham. "Nobody knew what they were doing with the money, and they were sending criminals to our country."

"They abused us in so many different ways," Trump continued. He then accused the countries' leaders of refusing to accept murderers and members of the violent MS13 gang that had been caught at the southern U.S. border by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Customs and Border Protection.
"They wouldn't take them. I stopped paying the $500 million that we were wasting when giving it to them," Trump continued.

At the end of March 2019, the Trump Administration announced that it was cutting nearly $450 million in direct funding to the countries because of their failure to stop emigration.
The Northern Triangle is the primary source of migrants to the United States. The immigrants largely flee their region to escape high murder rates, gang violence, low employment as well as a lack of access to food, necessities and social services. Recent droughts and hurricanes have worsened conditions in the region.
The direct funding cut off by Trump had sought to stem migration from the region by helping the countries politically and economically stabilize in an effort to reduce migration caused by violence and corruption.

The program paid millions to dozens of local and international nongovernmental organizations (NGOs). These organizations conducted development and humanitarian programs on the U.S. government's behalf.
However, because the countries had failed to reduce migration, Trump cut off the funds as a punishment. When the funding ended, many NGOs had to scale back their programs or end them prematurely, closing offices and laying off staff, according to NPR.

Trump did try to cut the money. (see above)
And Congress would have overridden every veto and Trump would have had no input at all in future bills.

He signed budgets containing the funds, yet had no evidence, had to put a question mark on it, and never seems to have said taxpayers are footing the bill. Apparently he doesn't read things before he signs them. I do, and don't vote for people who don't.
