Seth Rich Hacked the DNC.

We’re Seth Rich’s parents. Stop politicizing our son’s murder.
By Mary Rich and Joel Rich May 23 at 6:04 PM

The writers are the parents of Seth Rich, who was killed in the District in 2016.

Imagine living in a nightmare that you can never wake up from. Imagine having to face every single day knowing that your son was murdered. Imagine you have no answers — that no one has been brought to justice and there are few clues leading to the killer or killers. Imagine that every single day, with every phone call you hope that it’s the police, calling to tell you that there has been a break in the case.

Imagine that instead, every call that comes in is a reporter asking what you think of a series of lies or conspiracies about the death. That nightmare is what our family goes through every day.

Our beloved son Seth Rich was gunned down in the early hours of July 10, 2016, in his Washington, D.C., neighborhood of Bloomingdale. On the day he was murdered, Seth was excited about a new job he had been offered on Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.

Seth had dedicated his life to public service, and he told us that he wanted to work on the campaign’s effort to expand voter participation because he loved our country dearly and believed deeply in the promise of democratic engagement. Seth had been walking around, calling friends, family and his girlfriend, pondering the broader picture of what the job change would mean. He wondered how he would pick up and move to New York City for four months, the strain that might put on his relationships, and how it would all affect the life he had built for himself in Washington.

The circumstances of what happened next are still unclear. We know that Seth was abruptly confronted on the street, that he had been on the phone and quickly ended the call. We also know that there were signs of a struggle, including a watchband torn when the assailants attempted to rip it off his wrist. Law-enforcement officials told us that Seth’s murder looked like a botched robbery attempt in which the assailants — after shooting our son — panicked, immediately ran and abandoned Seth’s personal belongings. We have seen no evidence, by any person at any time, that Seth’s murder had any connection to his job at the Democratic National Committee or his life in politics. Anyone who claims to have such evidence is either concealing it from us or lying.

Still, conservative news outlets and commentators continue, day after painful day, to peddle discredited conspiracy theories that Seth was killed after having provided WikiLeaks with emails from the DNC. Those theories, which some reporters have since retracted, are baseless, and they are unspeakably cruel.

We know that Seth’s personal email and his personal computer were both inspected by detectives early in the investigation and that the inspection revealed no evidence of any communications with anyone at WikiLeaks or anyone associated with WikiLeaks. Nor did that inspection reveal any evidence that Seth had leaked DNC emails to WikiLeaks or to anyone else. Indeed, those who have suggested that Seth’s role as a data analyst at the DNC gave him access to a wide trove of emails are simply incorrect — Seth’s job was to develop analytical models to encourage voters to turn out to vote. He didn’t have access to DNC emails, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee emails, John Podesta’s emails or Hillary Clinton’s emails. That simply wasn’t his job.

Despite these facts, our family’s nightmare persists. Seth’s death has been turned into a political football. Every day we wake up to new headlines, new lies, new factual errors, new people approaching us to take advantage of us and Seth’s legacy. It just won’t stop. The amount of pain and anguish this has caused us is unbearable. With every conspiratorial flare-up, we are forced to relive Seth’s murder and a small piece of us dies as more of Seth’s memory is torn away from us.

To those who sincerely want to get to the bottom of Seth’s murder, we don’t hold this against you. We don’t think you are monsters, and we don’t think you are terrible people. We know that so many people out there really do care, don’t know what to think and are angry at the lack of answers.

We also know that many people are angry at our government and want to see justice done in some way, somehow. We are asking you to please consider our feelings and words. There are people who are using our beloved Seth’s memory and legacy for their own political goals, and they are using your outrage to perpetuate our nightmare. We ask those purveying falsehoods to give us peace, and to give law enforcement the time and space to do the investigation they need to solve our son’s murder.

Tom Fitton: “We (Judicial Watch) have filed Freedom of Information requests to the D.C. Police Department and the D.C. Mayor’s office last week. We have an FBI request pending from last year and of course separately we are asking questions of the Federal Freedom of Information Act about the DNC hack itself.”

JUDICIAL WATCH Files FOIA Requests to DC Police and DC Mayor For Seth Rich Murder Investigation Docs (VIDEO)

I hope they get everything. There are a lot of very strange peculiarities in the way it has been handled so far. The official investigators certainly have some explaining to do.

If this is just a random robbery (where nothing was taken) turned assassination style murder as the official story proclaims, then:

  • Why did the police go to Seth's home and steal his laptop and lock it away never to be released? What does that have to do with a completely random robbery?
  • Why has all the body camera footage of the first three responding officers disappeared? Where is it? Release it.
  • Why were his social media accounts wiped?
  • And while they were very particular to go and steal Seth's laptop, why did they not go and get the security camera footage from the bar Seth was at that night?
  • And the route to his home is laden with CCTV cameras. Why did they not go and get the footage from those cameras if it is a random (non) robbery turned assassination style murder. Yet they were sure to go to his home and steal his personal computer.

I assume you mean Kim Dotcom. I would guess because Wikileaks doesn't reveal it's sources and Kim was respecting that but due to mounting pressure, perhaps Assange gave Dotcom a green light to reveal what he knows. Wild guess but seems logical. Assange all but said it, in a very cagey manner. With Kim giving proof that takes Wikileaks off the hook. It's a tough situation because not revealing sources is so critical for Wikileaks but with Seth Rich dead and his WL contact also dead (natural causes) and with this being a murder and cover-up, it's appropriate, imho.

Kim doesn't have proof! At least he sure as hell hasn't provided any... Unless and until ACTUAL PROOF OR EVIDENCE is forthcoming, I remain unconvinced. As much as I want to believe Seth Rich was murdered for being the leaker, NO ONE has provided ANYTHING yet. I'm not taking Kim Dotcom's word on anything. That guy is a professional troll.

Julian and or Kim could end this shit today if they wanted. They could release proof that 'Panda' is in fact Seth Rich. Kim 'claims' to have proof of this, but I strongly feel he is trolling the media. There is definitely some fuckery afoot, but intellectual honesty demands actual evidence and not speculation.

‘ARE WE STILL AIRING THAT SH*T?!’ Fox News Staffers Reportedly Embarrassed by Seth Rich Coverage
by Aidan McLaughlin | 6:29 pm, May 22nd, 2017

Fox News staffers are embarrassed and angered by the cable news network’s continued coverage of the debunked Seth Rich conspiracy theory, according to The Daily Beast.

The conspiracy — that slain DNC staffer Seth Rich was killed because he gave emails to Wikileaks — received renewed attention last week, after Fox 5 ran a story in which Rod Wheeler, a private investigator and Fox News contributor, claimed to have evidence of communications between Rich and Julian Assange’s website.

A number of right-wing websites — including FoxNews.com, Breitbart and the Drudge Report — ran with the story, which fell apart shortly after it was published, when Wheeler confessed he had no actual evidence to support his claims. Washington D.C. police believe Rich was killed in a botched robbery, and the family has repeatedly asked news outlets to stop exploiting their son’s death for political ends.

But that didn’t stop Fox News from continuing to cover it: Sean Hannity has given breathless coverage to the “Murder Mystery,” and continues to Tweet about the story. Newt Gingrich shamelessly touted the conspiracy on Fox & Friends. Then, on Monday, Geraldo Rivera took to Twitter to announce he will be joining Hannity to discuss Rich’s death on Monday night.

RELATED: What the Hell is Going on with Sean Hannity and the Nutty Seth Rich Conspiracy Theory?!

The Daily Beast reached out to Fox News staffers to see how they felt about their network’s coverage:

The Daily Beast spoke to nearly a dozen reporters, pundits, and hosts inside Fox News who all conveyed the same sentiment: Hannity is “embarrassing” the network, and the promotion of the Rich conspiracy theory is senselessly cruel to a grieving family.

“ARE WE STILL AIRING THAT SHIT?!” one Fox News political reporter, who says they are furious that the conservative cable-news giant is entertaining the conspiracy theory, messaged The Daily Beast when informed of recent coverage.

Other sources at the network who spoke to The Daily Beast on condition of anonymity called the continued coverage “gross” and “heartless.”

Hannity even drew the ire of his fellow opinion pundits at the network, who “expressed disgust at the conspiracy theorizing, using words like ‘absurd’ and ‘unhinged’ to describe Hannity’s antics.”

Julie Roginsky, a Democratic contributor on Fox, today publicly slammed people promoting this conspiracy theory, though she didn’t single out Hannity.

AnonScandinavia has called out Kim Dotcom on his bullshit. They say he has NO knowledge of Seth Rich. AnonScandinavia and Julian Assange work together. This anon group basically broke the Vault 7 story and Julian's personal, but lesser known twitter account (@embassycat), often share personal messages with each other. AnonScandinavia won't even talk about Kim Dotcom and have told all their followers to ignore him.

The Man Behind The Seth Rich Private Investigation Has A White House Connection
The Rich family is "in shock" that Ed Butowsky is linked to Steve Bannon and the Mercer family.

Ed Butowsky, the Dallas wealth manager and frequent Fox News guest who facilitated a private investigation into the murder of Seth Rich, is friends with and claimed on his website to serve on the board of an organization started by White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon.

"I consider him a friend and a very nice man," Butowsky told BuzzFeed News of Bannon.

According to his website, Butowsky "serves as a Board Member for Reclaim New York, a non-partisan, non-profit think tank dedicated to advancing a grassroots conversation about the future of New York." Per tax filings, Bannon was Reclaim's vice chairman. (The group's secretary and treasurer are Jennifer and Rebekah Mercer, the powerful daughters of right-wing moneyman and Trump champion Robert Mercer.)

A spokesperson for Reclaim told BuzzFeed that Butowsky "has never had any formal involvement with the organization." Furthermore, per the spokesperson, Steve Bannon left the organization's board in August 2016.

Butowsky and Bannon know each other through Breitbart News, of which Bannon was executive chairman and to which Butowsky has contributed articles. In 2015, Bannon interviewed Butowsky for a Breitbart radio program.

Both Butowsky and a White House official deny speaking about Seth Rich.

Over the past week the Rich story has captivated conservative media, following a Fox News report that linked the murder of the 27-year-old Democratic National Committee Staff member with email hacks of the DNC that may have helped then-candidate Trump in his campaign against Hillary Clinton. Such a finding would contradict the view, widely held in the intelligence community, that Russian intelligence was behind the theft — a key point for those who believe there was an improper relationship between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.

Fox's report — a conspiracy theory with no corroborating evidence — was based on an interview with a private investigator, Rod Wheeler, who Butowsky introduced to the Rich family and offered to pay for. (Fox News yesterday retracted its story.) The Rich-as-leaker narrative's rise is the clearest example yet of the way an insurgent pro-Trump media has been able to push dubious stories beneficial to the administration into the limelight.

And the news that their benefactor has ties to a key figure in the administration — and the godfather of the pro-Trump media — has left the Rich family stunned.

“The family is in shock to learn that Ed Butowsky is both friends with and served on a board with Steve Bannon," Brad Bauman, a spokesman for the Rich family, told BuzzFeed News Wednesday. "We are very much trying not to rush to judgment in order to allow this story to develop.”

Bannon declined to comment for the story.

Butowsky has long said that he heard about the Rich case from a friend, though he can't remember whom, and that he was motivated to connect the Rich family with Wheeler because he was moved by their story.

In an interview Tuesday outside Del Frisco's Steakhouse in Manhattan, where he was feeding pigeons, Butowsky told BuzzFeed News that he had never discussed the Rich case with Bannon, and qualified their friendship as warm but not close.

"It's not like I have a Steve Bannon teddy bear," he said. "I've never eaten a meal with the guy."

A photograph on Butowsky's Facebook page shows him in the White House briefing room on March 22. Butowsky did not comment on the record why he was at the White House, but did clarify that he had not met with any White House officials.

Butowsky added that his association with Reclaim was distant and purely based on his wealth management expertise.

"Am I really on the board?" Butowsky asked when informed that his website claimed he was on the board. "I've never been to a board meeting."

Prior to his career as a wealth manager — his clients include a number of athletes and celebrities — Butowsky worked for nearly two decades at Morgan Stanley, where, according to his LinkedIn, he ran one of the highest earning teams at the firm.

Seth Rich family says Brad Bauman, their "spokesman", was assigned to them by the DNC.

http://archive.is/A6veE

Brad Bauman, a professional Democratic crisis public-relations consultant who has frequently criticized President Trump, abruptly ended a call with WND when asked about his connection to the DNC.
“That is patently 100 percent false!” he shouted, when asked if he was hired by the DNC, just before disconnecting the call.

According to Butowsky, Joe Rich added: “We were assigned a guy named Brad Bauman. I don’t know why we were assigned him. I have no idea why I need somebody to speak for me, but please tell Burkman, because he is not listening to me, to go away and stop acting like he speaks for us.”

Kim Dotcom Tried to Hack into Seth Rich’s Email After Claiming to Have Evidence of Conspiracy
by Aidan McLaughlin | 10:23 am, May 24th, 2017

Kim Dotcom, a New Zealand-based hacker, told Fox anchor Sean Hannity he had evidence to support the Seth Rich conspiracy — and then reportedly tried to hack into Rich’s email.

An in-depth Washington Post story by Dave Weigel, who has been tirelessly documenting the conspiracy that slain DNC staffer Seth Rich was killed because of his contacts with Wikileaks, reports that Rich’s Gmail account, now managed by his father, this week received an email from Mega.com, the website founded by Dotcom:

According to experts and Rich’s family, the emailed invitation from [email protected] appeared to be an attempt to gain access to Rich’s email. Joel Rich, who maintains his late son’s Gmail account, did not click the link. Meanwhile, Dotcom was promising on Twitter to prove that the younger Rich had been in contact with WikiLeaks — and Fox News host Sean Hannity was telling his 2.37 million Twitter followers to be ready for a revelation.

Hannity had been engaged in a Twitter conversation with Dotcom, and invited the convicted hacker to come on his show after he claimed to have evidence of contact between Rich and Wikileaks.

Dotcom, who this week consistently promoted forthcoming revelations about the case, issued a statement on his website Tuesday, that contained no new information. He also said he would no longer be speaking publicly about the story.

From Weigel:

The latest revelation — that a hacker from New Zealand may have been trying as recently as this week to hack into Rich’s email — offered fresh evidence that the conspiracy theory is false. Dotcom, it seemed, may have been willing to create a fake archive of emails from Rich to “prove” his role in the DNC hack.

So it appears that Dotcom claimed to have evidence of contact between Seth Rich and Wikileaks, and then attempted to hack into Rich’s email in order to gather that evidence.

It is likely that Dotcom planned to forge illicit emails between Rich and Wikileaks, and release both real and forged emails together. When he failed to access the Gmail account, he issued a statement with no new information and stated he would no longer talk about the case.

Hannity too, announced he will no longer promote the story on his Tuesday night broadcast, “out of respect for the family’s wishes.”

Of course, neither Dotcom nor Hannity has issued an apology, or admitted the conspiracy is completely manufactured, meaning the rumors — as well as the family’s nightmare — will likely continue.

Yeah, notorious hacker kim.com uses his own webserver address to try to hack Seth Rich. Uh huh. Yeah.

Didn't the CIA hacking tools that got leaked include the ability to make it look like someone else did the attack?
