So Enonesoch over at DP started the idea of a moneybomb, which I shared over here: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?480234-Ladies-and-Gentlemen-it-s-time-for-a-Moneybomb

And it seems that both over there and over here there is a split between those who want it to be on Labor Day (the seventh), and those who want it to be on Constitution Day (the seventeenth). I think will have more of an impact if we all do it together on one day. Use this thread to discuss the merits of either day. FWIW I think that DP is siding heavily with Labor Day now.

Labor Day pros:
Good pre debate news coverage.

Labor Day cons:
Hard to get people fundraising on a holiday.

Constitution Day pros:
Good post debate news coverage.
Rand is the only candidate for the entire Constitution!
More time to organize.

Constitution Day cons:
Why wait? Rand could use the money right away.

Both days pros:
Two moneybombs might mean two publicity bumps.

Both days cons:
Two moneybombs might mean half as much money in each. No publicity for that.

My own preference would be for Labor Day, because it provides a great opportunity to showcase Rand's plan to eliminate the payroll tax.

It's a great populist conservative message that's totally unique in this field of candidates (whereas everybody can claim vague support for the Constitution).

However, the most important thing is unity, so I'll support whatever the consensus ends up being.

From my experience after avatars, gifs, web-page, articles etc. are done you need at least 15 days to decently promote money-bomb. Give time to people to spread the word, post on Facebook groups, send to friends and their friends to their friends, send letters to the editor, articles to newspapers, friendly sites and so on...

That means that for September 7th we got 10 days to get avatars, gifs, web-page, videos, articles etc. You think there is a chance of it happening?

I am not saying that because I suggested September 17th. The more time there is the better and as of now we dont even have one single person actually working on it (no articles, web-page, ticker, videos, scripts are being created). There is just talk.

Constitution Day. People are going to be BUSY all day Labor Day & not enough planning time.

I voted Constitution Day, I'll need a little time to get some extra money together so I can give a bigger donation.

Once again, I agree with Barrex.

Ideally it would be nice to do it on the 7th and get him money as soon as possible, but I just don't know if that's feasible. Having 10 more days to work on it and promote it can make a huge difference.

In order for a moneybomb to work it needs time to be promoted so that people even know it exists, and even better if they have a little time to set some money aside.

Constitution day is one we have done before and core to our cause. As others have said it gives us time to promote. We have no time to waste, I can't make a website but I can make a promo video. We need someone we can trust to start a pledge site pronto.

I think doing it on the 17th and connecting publicity with the debate on the 16th is a natural. Lots of opportunities to build enthusiasm.

In addition, Rand if clever could draw attention in his debate comments to the efforts of his grass roots supporters to raise funds, making a compare /contrast to his competitors who rely on fat cat large donors, and to the blowhard fattest cat of all who can self-fund because he is in truth an actual member of the power elite.

Awesome, a video would be great. Barrex posted a list of needs in the other thread, so maybe post in there too.

Seeing the poll results here and the event that was already posted to Facebook I support just going with the 17th and the Constitution Day theme. I understand people wanting something more exciting, but we'll have more time to come up with something for the next one.

I know I've posted this a few times already in the other thread... but for the pledge site I really think it will help to have one central moneybomb website that can be used throughout the campaign and just rebranded for each one.

So ideally whoever ends up starting it would at least commit to being able to pass the site and the info collected along for the next one.

Hi Jackie, been speaking with supporters we worked with on 2008 and 2012 grassroots projects, as well as new activists that have joined up this cycle, and have been talking about relaunching the "Rand Paul Digital" kickstarter we proposed in May now that there is potentially more support for this project. The relaunch would have some changes with the goal of seeing if funding is possible to cover costs to support the future MBs, allowing us to commit to what you describe for the rest of the campaign and for other related grassroots projects.

I agree that knowledge transfer and work that has already been done should try to be maintained as much as possible while at the same time making each project unique so the themes chosen by the community appeals to supporters. We're still working out the details, but in the meantime have secured RandPaulMoneyBomb.com that could be reused as you describe, temporarily redirecting to the Digital page, will comment on this in the other thread.

There are several competing moneybombs and that's okay. I say an arching theme of 'make it rain september' will get a bunch of money to rand in a bunch of ways. as soon as september starts, some of us will donate. right before it ends, some of us will donate. some cool statistics will help and people will donate on the promoted days as well. that, i would think, solves the dilution issue, because the numbers for september can be bragged about/reported on, and will be impressive no matter when people choose to donate.

Hello all

Hello all, my name is Enonesoch, I initiated the September 7th Money Bomb, I posted this message over at PopularLiberty. com:
There is a serious discussion taking place with regard to when the next Money Bomb should be. I've have strongly advocated for September 7th, Labor Day. This a good day to bring up Rand's Tax plan, this is a good day because it is before the next debate and will give Rand a great response when they bring out the 'Rand's failing campaign' meme, this is a good day because it gives us plenty of time to coordinate and get the word out in the next 3 weeks. The other date that is being advocated is September 17th, Constitution Day. This is a good day because Rand is a defender of the Constitution, this is a good day because it is the day after the debate and if Rand does well there is a chance of get more donations, it is a good day because it gives us 4weeks to coordinate and spread the word.

My argument for and against: I am for September 7th for all the reason listed above. I am against September 17th because all the candidates claim they are for the Constitution and not have a bigger impact than the 7th, being the day after the debate will take away a great rebuttal to the failing campaign meme that they are sure to bring out. I want to be clear that I am not against the idea of the Constitution Day Money Bomb, I only think that the timing of September 7th may be right in the sweet spot helping the Rand the most.
I feel the only fair way to resolve this issue is to vote in the poll over at RonPaulForums, as of now Constitution Day is winning 27 to 7. I am not one to force any idea, so if you feel it should be on September 17th please vote that way, if you think it should be on September 7th please vote that way. If you are not a member of RonPaulForums, please join so you can vote in this poll.

We should give the poll 2 more days to clarify which date we will go with. At Midnight August 17th, the choice will be declared and the date will be set. We must all coordinate on this effort, the point is that we make the greatest impact possible. The date, and the meaning behind it, is secondary and quite inconsequential.

Please vote in this poll

That is a good idea. If it's too late to get everyone together on one day, this is a viable alternative.

Constitution Day.

People are busy on Labor Day and having it on Constitution Day also gives us more time to promote.

Labor Day is not a good idea because most people aren't focused on politics (potential donors & the public that we want to see the positive news)

Constitution Day is perfect because it is the day after the debate. Not to mention Rand Paul is the only person to mention the constitution in the last debate.
