RON PAUL CAMPAIGN SEES ANOTHER DAY OF RECORD DONATIONS
Local and national supporters engage in grassroots fundraising.
Washington, D.C. - (December 17, 2007) - On the 234th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, supporters of Congressman Ron Paul’s campaign for president have raised over $6 million in a single day. The fundraiser was started as a grassroots effort independent of the Ron Paul 2008 Campaign, and organized through the website http://www.teaparty07.com/. As December 16 drew to a close, the campaign’s website reported a total of over $17.9 million for the fourth quarter. Early in the day, Ron Paul supporters beat the campaign’s goal of $12 million for the quarter two weeks early. In bringing in $6 million, the Ron Paul campaign beat it’s own singleday online fundraising record of $4.3 million set on November 5th, 2007, which was the previous record for most single-day donations made online. Through both online and offline donations the campaign also broke the all-time single day primary fundraising record of $5.7 million, set by Sen. John Kerry in 2004. The day also saw donations from approximately 25,000 first-time donors to the Ron Paul campaign, and over 57,000 donors total.
