The Senate has voted to overturn the electric vehicle mandate in the state of California. This is going to cause some major anger and anxiety among the climate change activist community.

The EV mandate was one of the last things Joe Biden signed before leaving office. You may recall a last minute push by Biden’s team to advance as much climate change related legislation as they could during his final weeks in office.

The resolution to overturn the mandate passed along party lines with one Democrat senator voting for it as well.

definitely necessary and right to shut any mandate for electric vehicles down.

I am completely opposed to this ridiculous ban (on gas powered vehicles).

On the other hand, should this be a State issue vs. a Federal issue?

California is used to force the hand of the big automotive corporations and thereby the rest of the states.

It becomes an interstate commerce issue.
We could solve that by breaking up the big states so no single state has so much power, but that won't happen any time soon.

The people of the other 49 states don't get to vote in California and have a right not to be ruled by them.

Trump ENDS California Insane EV Mandate—Gas Cars and U.S. Auto Jobs Get a Reprieve

President Trump just killed California’s 2035 gas-car ban—and with it the copycat mandates in 11 blue states that cover a third of the U.S. auto market.

Using the Congressional Review Act, he signed three resolutions that scrap the Biden-EPA waivers and heavy-duty truck rules, freeing automakers to build what customers actually want.

“We officially rescue the U.S. auto industry,” Trump cheered, while GM, Toyota, and Hyundai praised one national standard and slammed the old targets as “never achievable.”

Alliance chief John Bozzella said the mandates only forced companies to buy credits from Tesla instead of investing in American plants.

California AG Rob Bonta threatens to sue, but the message from Detroit to Dixie is clear: the gas engine isn’t going anywhere, and American workers just kept their future on the assembly line.
