Hello, my name is Garrett. I've been a long time member here (November 2007) but rarely post on this forum, as DailyPaul is easier to read from my mobile phone (where I usually read and post things). I have an active account under this name there, at http://dailypaul.com/user/4166 and have spent the time since I was introduced to Ron Paul learning, spreading the message of liberty and educating others. The Dr. and those who follow in his footsteps give me real hope.

I'm posting this because I got a message on Facebook from Michael Maresco asking for anyone who would go to CPAC but can't afford it to speak up here. Both I and also my friend, a fellow liberty-lover, have made the time and would absolutely go and support Dr. Paul but finances are tight. I don't like DC but it hurt inside when Romney won SRLC by a vote. If we can make any difference here we will absolutely be there to cast our votes for Ron.

We're currently living in the Kansas City area and thus the easiest and most cost-effective means of travel is by air. If we can afford airfare and a small amount for other related expenses I've been assured that we can get tickets and we don't care if we have to sleep on somebody's floor to make this happen. I've set up a ChipIn at http://cpac2011forliberty.chipin.com/cpac-2011 . If even close to half of the target amount is met one of us will be able to go, if we meet the goal we will both be in attendance the whole time to make sure our votes are cast and counted. If you can contribute anything, I thank you. If not, thanks for taking the time to read this anyway.

Steve Bierfeldt of C4L may be able to give you a special deal.

Pretty sure you'll be able to lower the amount of the chip-in after contacting him, if he cannot fund you completely.

Steve indicated he could help with CPAC tickets and possibly lodging if I could figure out getting there, that's the reason I set up a ChipIn. Thanks.

MRoCkEd, My ChipIn only includes estimated cost of airfare for two and related expected and incremental expenses. I would never waste anyone's money as I would hate anyone wasting mine. I just have to get the ChipIn filled for one (half) or both of us here and at that point Steve wants me to contact him. Thank you.

Alright. How much is your flight?

So he cannot give you any kind of special rate on airfaire or something?

Check this post too: http://www.ronpaulforums.com/showthread.php?276618-Looking-to-donate-a-200-United-Airlines-voucher

When I talked to him on FB he just said he could help with tickets and possibly lodging but I'd have to figure out the way to get to D.C. and then I should contact him. And I would definitely take that voucher only if I'm absolutely sure I can make the rest of the cost happen. I'm trying to get my friend as well as myself there if possible. I hate sounding like a charity case. The only reason I'm asking is because I really want Ron Paul to win this and I know we can go.

Glad you acted on the msg... I just reposted this thread to my FB. BTW - A well done description on the Chip-in page, and intro here. Thanks

Don't worry about the 'charity case' bit, we all want the same thing and many of us can't go. But do say what your airfare is, some people here have been getting amazing ticket prices and have better links for prices and such. In the end, people are trying to get the maximum number of bodies for the money in chip ins, but so far all of them have been filling. Discounts on CPAC stuff ends at the end of the month, though, so we have to get them filled so tickets can be purchased, before then.

Well, it depends on when I accrue the funds to buy tickets. The sooner, the lower the cost. I came up with around $600 for two tickets, possibly slightly less or more depending on timing. What site did you see $223 on? I'm assuming MCI (KC Int) to IAD (Dulles) will be the easiest to get there and back and it depends on whether we would have lodging from the evening of 2/9 to the morning of 2/14 because tickets are more expensive on weekends.

PM MRocked, he had a website for plane tickets that I think was much lower than others.

Looks like flying into BWI (Baltimore) is the cheapest.

But you might not have a ride from the airport, so your best bet would be DCA. You can get to CPAC easily from there via metro rail, bus, etc.

DCA came out to around $240 on http://priceline.com.

I wouldn't do Dulles unless you have someone around there to pick you up.

Yeah, I just looked and DCA is much closer to the CPAC location than the other area airports. I found tickets on PL ranging from about $250 to $275 including taxes and fees and possibly slightly lower on Hotwire. It all depends on how quickly I can accrue funds because as soon as tomorrow the airfare rates may rise because there will be less than two weeks until the 9th.
