I'm not an expert but have done some reading about well intentioned events being poisoned.

They're called "agent provocateurs"
You have an event.
They creep in and sow seeds of discord, violence or worse to poison and "stage" a media anti-event.

Not much you can do about it except for 2 things:
1. Be "aware" and have your "antennae" up
2. Bring video cameras and fresh batteries to "document" EVERYTHING.

The more cameras and angles, the better.

Often times it's the ONLY way to combat SPIN with TRUTH.

Sorry to be a worry wort and don't mean to be negative,
but this our "baby" and we have to nurture AS WELL AS GUARD AND PROTECT!

Yeah well - the out-of-towners will be pretty easy to keep in their groups. So they can keep eyes on all of their own. Just have to watch out for the lone turkeys trying to sneak in and sabotage.

I've had the same thought cross my mind also. It happen's and I won't be surprised if it does.

They purposely send in troublemaker's pretending to be for the cause who get obnoxious and threatening so they can send in security to break up the protest or rally. Errr.....hopefully rubber bullet's are off the table!

Of course, the more videos/pictures are taken at the event, the more recaps can be posted after the event, especially on Youtube.
