Secret Service in Auto Wreck in NH

Police said the agents were passengers in a Ford Taurus heading south on Route 16. A northbound Mercury Sable with three people crossed over the center line and collided head-on into the Taurus.

It wasn't immediately known in what capacity the agents were working, but Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was campaigning in a town hall meeting Tuesday night in Berlin, north of Wakefield.

Danforth died at the scene and his passengers, Natasha Meroski, 35, and Kristina Buswell, 21, were taken to Frisbee Memorial Hospital and Huggins Hospital to be treated for their injuries.

Authorities said the Taurus was carrying four on-duty Secret Service agents, whose names have not been released. They were also taken to Frisbee Memorial Hospital to be treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. One of the agents was later transferred to Massachusetts General Hospital.

State police could not confirm whether the Secret Service agents were assigned to the Hillary Clinton campaign, however authorities did say Clinton's motorcade passed through the accident scene approximately five hours before the crash.

“Please join us as we keep all the victims of this accident and their families in our thoughts and prayers,” the Secret Service said in a statement Wednesday.

It’s not clear yet why the agents were in New Hampshire, but presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was at a campaign event at Berlin High School Tuesday evening. The school is about 80 miles away from Wakefield.
