WTH are they thinking?

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray on Thursday proposed a phased-in increase of the city’s minimum wage to $15 an hour over the next seven years – a compromise endorsed by both business and labor.

If ultimately approved, Seattle would move toward having the highest minimum wage of any city in the United States. Currently San Francisco, at $10.55 an hour, has that distinction.

Under the mayor’s plan, businesses with more than 500 employees nationally will have at least three years to phase in the increase. Those providing health insurance will have four years to complete the move.

Smaller organizations will be given seven years, with the new wage including a consideration for tips and health care costs over the first five years.

If business endorsed it then they have no one to blame but when they start charging $10 for a jar of mayo and no one buys it they may regret it.

Mayors are becoming dictators with sycophantic city councils. That being said everyone I know who lives there is for it. Of course they are all libs with no economic sense whatsoever. So If you are currently making $15 an hour you just got a demotion and whatever it took for you to get to that wage now has no value.

This might slide without catastrophe since it is phased in over 7 years...

Depending on how the economy as a whole works out in regards to inflation.

If they instantly lifted min wage to 15 dollars it would have been one of the most hilarious moments in Seattle history... They would have been a posterchild for economic suicide.

If it got people off welfare it might be worth it but you know that won't happen.

He is being to cautious , just go to $18 next week, that will fix everything .LOL

I anxiously await any major city to drastically increase the minimum wage.
As long as I get to point and laugh afterwards.
