At the moment, I see there are two clarifying strategic considerations for true advocates of liberty, here understood to be inclusive of cultural tradition:

1) The culture wars are geared to go into 2.0 mode, as the PC side will (as they did following Roe) presume this latest imposition of social liberal concepts on a divided country "settles the matter"--only to find it fuels divisive elections for the next several decades, as abortion has. The best overall approach, given the current circumstances, is to elect more constitutionalists to Congress who will use their direct powers to vote to remove the court's jurisdiction on gay marriage, abortion and other cultural wedge issues, which would vacate the bad decisions made in each area, thus de-federalizing these issues.

2) This further exposes the complete failure of the Republican Party's cowardly, half-hearted strategy of waiting for vacancies in the Supreme Court to appoint conservative replacements. For 40 years the GOP has strung the social right out with promising to reform the courts in this manner, while not prioritizing putting reliable appointees to the Court (compared to the perfect record of Democratic administrations in appointing social liberals). It's clearly time to abandon this as a primary method going forward. (As an aside, I think it's also time Republicans stopped running for President leading with an emphasis on interventionist foreign policy, which I believe cost them the election in '92, '96 and since '08, and thus cost them more chances to make court appointments, but that's another issue.)

Reagan appointed O'Connor and Kennedy, GHWB appointed Souter, GWB appointed Roberts, meaning 4 out of the 7 GOP appointees to SC have been duds, since 1980. Their failed approach has only emboldened the left to continue to pack the courts in the other direction, and continue to impose a left-authoritarian agenda through the courts and bureaucracies. The federal government should be out of these issues on both the legislative and judicial sides, so a successful removal of the court's jurisdiction would send a stinging warning to the justices to not overreach their constitutional boundaries, as they did today.

I don't think a church should or should not be forced to do anything especially when it goes against their beliefs.

Yesterday and today were the final two nails in the coffin for the rule of law. With the Supreme Court losing all credibility and add in some economic collapse then this country heading towards breaking up.

This all maybe closer than we thought considering the timing of the debate just prior to these decisions was over session, the battle flag and the civil war. It all makes sense that they are setting the narrative in the minds of the average Joe that session is racist now since we are currently at high risk for this possibility.

But you know what, forget God in this argument. It's clear the majority in America are clueless about who He is.

As one person on the SCOTUSBlog pointed out what's really being affirmed here is not the "the right to marriage" or "equality in marriage" because they redefined marriage. What this new right is, is "equal dignity" for a special group. Not for polygamists because the majority doesn't want to annoint that yet.

And that's really what this represents to me. A society that wants to worship itself. "Oh, you want an abortion? You're not a killer you're a martyr! You poor thing. You have a choice! Free yourself from the bonds of oppression! Someone doesn't want you to? Well, not only are they self-righteous, but they want to take away your freedom and also make that poor child suffer an unwanted life."

The opening of this gay marriage opinion says people have a RIGHT to "assert their identity". What the hell does that even mean? A football coach having sex with a junior in high school is pedophilia and rape. But now if the coach can convince the kid to authorize his parents to let them marry they will share in the "equal dignity" of marriage.

We are so far off in philosophical lala land in our attempts to rationalize straight up hedonism and licentiousness that it's laughable.

Hate vs. Love. That's the philosophical cornerstone. If you offend me or confuse me you are a hater. If you flatter me or pleasure me or agree with me that is Love.

All rebuke and logic and inescapable argument = HATE. And the hedonist returns the hate 10-fold.

I don't expect the Article V convention to go anywhere and eventually it boils down to self-preservation at the end of the day. If you can hack off a gangrenous limb, you do so. The same phenomenon occurred to the Soviet Union in 1991. A series of bad events can alter people's line of thinking very quickly.

Any officials who are willing to obey God rather than man? I doubt it, but I hope so.

As for anyone who doesn't care about this, just think about what it will mean for churches. Homo-fascists and Christians will never be able to share a nation, one will inevitably drive out the other. And you all know what side I am on.

And still many churches will "support the troops" as they go to invade foreign nations that, for all their flaws, do not allow disgusting acts like sodomy.

More like 10 years. Factor in the vast cultural chasm and then add the potential explosive economic elements which could lead to bank bail ins, 401k confiscation and a host of other crimes. The U.S. is deeply fractured as it is. It just needs a small push. If the 9 to 5 drone cycle can be disturbed, it's going to get real interesting. The numbness of work and the weekend distractions are the only things suppressing the flames.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R), an expected 2016 presidential candidate, slammed the Supreme Court on Friday for its ruling in favor of same-sex marriage and called for a constitutional amendment to reverse the decision.

"I believe this Supreme Court decision is a grave mistake. Five unelected judges have taken it upon themselves to redefine the institution of marriage, an institution that the author of this decision acknowledges 'has been with us for millennia,'" Walker said.

Walker is one of many conservative White House hopefuls who criticized the Supreme Court. However, he took his case further than several of his potential GOP foes by calling for a constitutional amendment to reverse the decision and put control back in the hands of states.

"As a result of this decision, the only alternative left for the American people is to support an amendment to the US Constitution to reaffirm the ability of the states to continue to define marriage," he said.

The governor also appeared to renew his call for so-called "religious freedom" protections for those who oppose same-sex weddings. The controversy over "religious freedom" laws peaked earlier this year when states like Arkansas and Indiana backed down in the face of heated opposition from gay-rights activists and the business community.

"I call on the president and all governors to join me in reassuring millions of Americans that the government will not force them to participate in activities that violate their deeply held religious beliefs. No one wants to live in a country where the government coerces people to act in opposition to their conscience," Walker said. "We will continue to fight for the freedoms of all American."
