SCOTUS Declines to Hear Challenge to Warrantless Pole Camera Surveillance

My little town in Georgia installed these.

No doubt funded with grant money as we sure as hell couldn't afford it.

Can't even keep the dirt roads scraped.

Actually a good point that I hadn't considered, is the one brought up, where whoever is unfortunate enough to have these installed in front of their house lives under constant surveillance. I would think that should be a fairly strong case to make.

Why do you hate transparency, comrade?

Reported for having something to hide.

Mostly just hate the mayor right now. I don't live in the city limits so I can't vote him out unfortunately.
No, but you can make his political life miserable if you're willing to put out some effort...

I ousted the Mayor in the next town over because he had been there for 20 years and liked tax hikes. Granted he made it easy because he was a loud jerk, and he threatened to shoot his neighbor on camera, but yeah, I made sure he was unable to run for office and win the following cycle.

I then convinced his neighbor to seek a restraining order against him. The motion failed, but it made headlines and he still had to hire an attorney and show up in court :-)

I fed all of this stuff to the press to keep his name in the negative news cycle continually. He realized he would get creamed if he ran for office again, so he decided to retire and go to the beach.

I'm waiting for the round-a-bout to be built.

Mayor thinks that it's a good idea to put a round-a-bout on a very busy interstate exit (only on one side though, there will still be a red-light 200 feet away on the other side of the bridge). I've done some (admittedly non-scientific) examination of the plans and I predict that the first few 18-wheelers to get off the interstate are going to render the exit log-jammed, once they attempt to navigate the round-a-bout and get caught at the red-light. We have A LOT of cargo that comes through.

Interstate drivers start bypassing our little town altogether because traffic is worse . . . businesses suffer . . . the mayor probably won't win re-election. He's a huge proponent of the plan and has rather arrogantly dismissed anyone who expresses concern that it won't work.

As a matter of fact, it's about the same arrogant demeanor he used when people found out about the cameras that were installed.

(my prediction could be wrong, after all, I'm not a traffic engineer, but if I'm right, he's gonna be in the news)

(We also got highway funds for this proposed project, someone waves money in front of the mayor and he is compelled to spend it on any bad idea that is put before him)

Dear Moderator: Sorry I'm so bad at staying on topic tonight.

No big deal.

It's an easy fix.

You just need some warrantless pole camera disablement.

You’ll get no justice from their courts.

If they “rule” in your favor in one instance, there will certainly be a dozen others where your liberty is completely disregarded for a “compelling state interest.”
