Scott Walker could win CPAC Straw Poll - Want to help change that?

There is a high chance with the recent surge of support for Scott Walker that we may lose the 2015 CPAC Straw Poll. Young Americans for Liberty has been doing a fantastic job in providing discounted tickets and lodging, and attempting to get as many people there as possible. If you live anywhere near DC, it's more crucial than ever that you attend this year's CPAC.

You only need to attend one day of the conference to vote. If you want to see Rand speak, he's speaking on either Thursday or Friday. I'm extremely worried about how the establishment has been coalescing around Walker, so please take this very seriously as we MUST win the CPAC straw poll going into the 2016 election.

If Scott Walker wins it will be extremely detrimental to Rand. If Rand wins, it prevents someone else from getting in the spotlight.

So please, if you have not registered for the 2015 CPAC, do so NOW.

Discounted tickets and lodging are still available: http://yaliberty.org/cpac

It's easy to show your support for Rand Paul by posting on an internet forum, but the real test is having people actually show up.

If you are not a student this link courtesy of the Jobs Growth PAC has the cheapest one day ticket prices of $62.50 if you can only make it for one day to vote.

Ron Paul's principles gave us something to believe in and so people went the extra mile for him. Rand Paul, sacrificed some of that passion in order to appease the idiots that make up the GOP rank and file. I hope he does win CPAC but I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't.

I think is actually somewhat true.
bearing in mind that Ron kicked butt at CPAC but didn't in the primaries ... and the candidates that sucked at CPAC won ... electorally it might have been a good trade off.

Hopefully Rand gets to have his cake and eat it too (who came up with that silly expression?) and there is enough passion combined with mainstream voters for him to win CPAC and do better in the primaries.

Off topic but I'm very hopeful and excited that Rand and his technology/internet experts are coming up with extremely effective ways for the grassroots to help his campaign more with our online presence without us also being a liability at the same time.
His campaign keeps acting like they're going to launch something extremely effective, interactive and creative that has never been done in politics before. I hope it lives up to that.

With RP2012 and 2008 there was SO much energy in the grassroots and the campaign wasn't prepared to do much with it. The grassroot based campaigns were great but I can't help but wonder how different things would be if there was some way to harness all that creativity, energy and involvement in effective/productive directions - especially if it were a format (I don't know what it would be) that reduced the "own worst enemy" factor that the 2008/2012 campaign was fearful of.

But yeah, back on topic.
I wouldn't be surprised if fewer people flew in to attend for Rand than they did for Ron. But hopefully more "regular goers" vote for him to make up for it.
There might also be some more willing to make the trip for Rand than they did for Ron though ... because he does seem to be much more interested in winning. There are a lot of us who are frustrated with losing and might redouble efforts for a winning candidate, even if the candidate isn't as ideal as Ron was.

I'd like Rand to win the poll.
But Walker peaking so soon might not be a bad thing either though.

Wouldn't this be a good thing? The CPAC straw poll winner NEVER wins the presidency. Go Scott Walker!

Randal Paul figured out that we cant make much of a difference by calling everybody that disagrees on some issues idiots and actively trying to make enemies out of anybody that doesn't agree 100%. Instead he decided to focus on the issues the majority can agree upon, narrowing the focus and actively working to make friends and allies.

I think he has a good chance at CPAC.

Thanks for the reminder Gage

You only need to attend one day of the conference to vote.

Do you know which day that would be? The last day I suppose? And any idea about what time of day they hold the vote?

And, to be clear, all I would need to attend and vote on that day is to buy the ticket through YAL, and then show up?

There is no further action required on my part?

....just thinking about the logistics, I'd like to attend if possible, thanks

Paul won the last two CPAC polls and someone else has entered the spotlight anyway. And if we're to show that our folks don't just show up when we want to and actually play a part in the entire process, why just show up on the day the guy WE like speaks? Why not be there for the entire thing? Would help shatter the idea that we're fringe types that only show up when we feel it suits us.

The best day to vote is Thursday or Friday. They close it very early in the afternoon on the last day.

You buy your ticket through YAL and pick it up from YAL at the conference.

If only Ron Paul could have won a CPAC straw poll, he might have become POTUS as well...

Oh wait...he did. How did that go? Oh yes, the media blitz about how straw polls don't really mean anything.

I am sure it will mean so much more this time around if Rand Paul wins instead...

Sorry Gage, the only way this straw poll will mean anything to the media is if anyone other than Rand Paul wins. Sadly, that is just a fact.

I will re-visit this thread post CPAC to bump what I have stated here.

Well Romney has won CPAC the most. In fact over the past 8 CPACs either Romney, Rand or Ron won. Bush won the 2000 CPAC and Romney won the 2012 CPAC (he also won 2008 but wasn't the nominee). Some may discredit the CPACs but Ron did a lot better electorally after he won the 2 CPACs than he did in previous runs, so I wouldn't say there wasn't an impact (although you can't really say both are related).

That's exactly why we don't want anyone other than Rand Paul winning.

We do it because it needs to be done, there are certain things that need to happen to help Rand stay in the top tier. Defeatism won't get us the nomination, or anything...

Yeah, no kidding. Rand is better off without "supporters" like the above person who you responded to.

And its a great opportunity to gloat for those working within local GOPs. Our county chairman had to announce the winner to the entire committee when Rand won last year. Its the little things that matter :)

When does voting end? I got the weekend off and was thinking of a road trip down Friday night, Saturday morning from Jersey. Can we confirm Rand will be on Friday. I felt like Saturday was using the day for the big guns. Or maybe that was Iowa? Any info would help before I drop the $125.

I'm on the side of as much coverage as possible. Moved past voting mostly. But if Rand Paul actually has a change to be in the picture for president, I'll do my part.

I was there in 2013 on Saturday and voted. I will be going on Saturday to vote and hang out. Use this link to get a discounted ticket for one day.
