Let me clarify - Science is REALLY frickin' cool!!!

2 nights ago, I slept terribly (I have sleep apnea, had a clogged nose, and couldn't find my mask that goes over my mouth and nose, only the one going over my clogged nose), and woke up looking like a stoner. I can accept that, adds to my "cool" factor. Next day, same thing happens. When I woke up yesterday, my throat felt terrible, and I still had "stoner eyes". Again, last night, same thing happens. This morning I wake up with a VERY sore throat, painfully red eyes, eyes crusted with some type of unholy body fluid and phlegm threatening my breathing.

So, I go to the doctor's office. After a wait worthy only of bureaucrats, I realized I could no longer hear out of my right ear. I figured it may have been sinus pressure since I'm allergic to just about everything green (not peas, thankfully). I'm seated in another waiting room and have my blood pressure taken by a one-armed lady who I probably would've been more interested in watching use kludges to get through the pre-exam had I not been staring at the ceiling wondering what that funky noise was... Pressure in my ears kept building until I felt I was going to scream.

Doctor finally comes in, he administers an exam, and tells me I have tonsillitis from strep throat, pink eye, and an ear infection (as stated in the discharge papers whose length could only have resulted from bureaucracy).

I get an awkward cortisone shot in the ass, go get some anti-biotics, ear drops, and eye drops, take a 5-hour nap... and I feel completely fine. No pain - anywhere. No excess phlegm - anywhere. 5 hours to fix the symptoms (and eventually their cause) of three separate infections.

Science is so cool! Thank you science - Thank you Man.

When I walk into a Doctor's office, and I see a needle, I know that needle was designed. So that needle must have a designer.

begin Nag-o-gram:

Just be sure to take the full course of antibiotics. Part of the reason that we get "superbugs" is because people either don't take the full course of antibiotics when they need them (sure sounds like you did) or they are misapplied and prescribed as a "quick fix" for people who don't really need them.

end Nag-o-gram.

P.S. Don't use antibacterial soap either. :)
P.P.S. Glad you're feeling better.

Real health can only be achieved through proper diet and excercise, yoga being the best kind IMO. Don't get me wrong, the medical establishment can treat most things, but if you take care of your body you won't get sick.
