School Teachers For Ron Paul

I apologize if I'm rambling and adding threads. It's 5 and I still can't sleep because I'm so excited about things going on here. Anyway, on to my point:

A lot of people think that getting rid of the Department of Education is a bad idea. "How we fund schools?" "Why would we take money away from them?" But when I talked to my friends who were teachers, they all told that they hated the DOE more than anything else in their job! Now that made me realize that it wasn't so crazy at all.

With that in mind, we should start a School Teachers for Ron Paul site, or maybe add it as a sub-set of another page that we're working on.

In fact, why wouldn't we just merge this with the "tell us who you are" page. We could have a general section, and then a section on each of the "crazy" issues that he has, with experts telling us why they support his ideas! Who wouldn't listen to teachers about schools, or economists about money issues?

Gonna X post this I think.

Sure, but we're not speaking for ALL teachers. We just have teachers here explaining their views. Personal stories from people who are living with the issue every day are MUCH more powerful than statistics. I don't think it'll be too hard to find teachers who wouldn't mind getting rid of the DOE, either. :)
 
This is a great idea! My wife is a middle school teacher and was looking for a "Teachers for Ron Paul" site as she thinks the world of him. She agrees that decisions and funding for schools should happen as locally as possible as the Feds don't know what is best for every school in the country. A lot of bad decisions get made by the DoE.

If this gets off the ground, I'm sure she would contribute.

I made a short video that's effective in reaching HomeSchooling parents, and I bet that teachers who are aware of what's going on would appreciate it too. It's based on a song by Pete Seeger, a 60's protest singer, and contains a few wry laughs as well as some serious issues.

Speak for your state, because here in Texas many teachers here are conservative and voted for Bush.

I know a few teachers who would sign up to this idea.
 
I think MANY MANY teachers could get on board with tossing the DOE out the freaking window. Ask any teacher this year about that perverted piece of legislation called NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND..

It is making teachers agrier by the quarter. I think you'd be surprised at how many teachers are really really pissed off at the Feds.. Could be fertile ground.

The consensus from what I've seen is every teacher hates NCLB. I was speaking with some friends about Dr. Paul the other night and we went to the website. One of them is a teacher and she wanted to look at his views on education. As soon as she saw his issue with NCLB, she said "Okay, I'm voting for him". She loved his speech on it where he said that it should instead be called "No Bureaucrat Left Behind". I don't know if she's really fully voting for him or not, but it did have a positive effect on her.

I'm kind of surprised there ISN'T a teachersforpaul website.

It's very important, however, to stress that Ron Paul does not want to get rid of public education. He is simply trying to encourage the process that was originally intended--school districts have the power. It's great that RP wants homeschooling to be unihibited, but we have to be able to convince educators and passionate parents that RP won't try to destroy public education.
 
I think Ron Paul hits right at home with teachers on the No Child Left Behind act. I introduced my friend who is a teacher and he in turn introduced 3 more who all have donated.
 
I still keep in touch with a couple of high school teachers I had and they are all for getting rid of NCLB and the Department of Education. Might take some work to convince them that the NEA is bad though haha. So yeah this would be a good idea and there are a lot of teachers who would go for it. One thing though, we might have more luck with grades K-12. At least in PA there seems to be more conservative teachers there than college professors.
 
All the college professors teaching the education courses can't complain enough about NCLB. I happen to be a member of a teachers' forum but I don't know how to introduce Ron Paul to them because their biggest problem is their direct disagreement with him on gun control.
 
My Wife

My Wife is a teacher and she will be voting Ron Paul with me. Good lord it is so nice to be married to a woman who is beautiful and who even loves Ron Paul as much as me :D
 
Yes, many many teachers hate NCLB because of an anti-Bush fervor or because of its restrictions on them (self interest) but historically many of those same people love the federal DOE and vote Democrat, and anti-NCLB does not mean that they want $0 budgets or smaller government necessarily, so be careful in pursuing this good idea.

Dont be so quick to put us all in one basket....I would say our biggest problem is the boob tube, all I hear in the lunch room is dancing with the stars and brittny is pregnant again....Sorry bout the poor spelling had to reply quick...Go Dr. Paul..:D
