School cops - You must think of yourself as soldiers in a war...

The 16-year-old inmate of Orangeville Jr.-Sr. High in Illinois was in gym class when a deranged-looking man barged into the school and began firing what appeared to be a handgun at several of the other students.

If a bank robber bluffs his way through a heist with a toy gun, he's committed a real crime. The same is true of the people who terrorized the inmates of Orangeville Jr.-Sr. High on May 13.

So what would happen if a student was exercising his Second Amendment rights despite school rules and defended himself?

What if one of the students grabbed some scissors and stabbed him?

A good ending to this story would be a gang of students rushing the "shooter" and giving him a beating. although i imagine the police would suddenly go from "searching for the shooter" to tasing, beating, or shooting any student in range.

So glad I'm not in high school anymore. This is completely ridiculous.

Just another reason to home school. I don't have kids, but I'd probably have an anxiety attack if they were in a public school today.

Imagine an old timer like me...looking back 30 years.

Reflecting on that, honestly, is too painful...what 20 somethings consider the "norm" now, would have been outrageous "Soviet" style encroachments then.

Sure, there has been some pushback in some areas, most notably on gun rights, be let's be honest with each other, those are one "terrorism" attack (real or false flag) away from going the way of the dodo.

The creepy, omniscient surveillance grid is what I'm talking about.

Kids coming up today will have no knowledge of a world where every square inch is not under surveillance.

It wasn't that long ago...and it's almost enough to make me weep to think about it.

To get good people to do bad things you must convince them to shut off their mind and just follow orders. That what you ask of them, regardless of consequence, will be absolved and justified. It will be of course, all for the "greater good".

And therein lay the point of these drills. With foreknowledge the drills are pointless, without foreknowledge they are training sessions for students to be compliant at all costs. How the heck are they supposed to know it's a drill or not? They won't. So they must assume its a drill or face being tazered, beaten, or shot for putting the officers engaging in these drills at risk...

So a question for those who won't do the public school thing.

I make money online, my wife is going to nursing school, we have a baby and an older boy. I attempted to homeschool him while watching the baby and working from home. It doesn't work, or it doesn't work for me. Is there any options for an at home liberty learning system or something along those lines?

We tested it out for a few months and while many things did get better we were just TOGETHER so damn much that we started getting on each others nerves. I know as he gets older that won't be a problem BUT when trying to locate solid material to work with there really isn't much out there. I guess I am hoping there is already curriculum out there that I can buy up and get back to it.

I have already setup my private school and filled out all the required docs. I named my school the Liberty Learning Institute and had my one student who I am wanting back at my school come the new school year IF I can make it work.

Who here actually homeschools and doesn't end up blowing up at their kids? Maybe I am just the wrong man for the job who knows lol, all I know is I want my kids to learn about our real country and not what they are putting in their heads.

I had an issue with a school where my son and other kids were playing a zombie game and my son said "i'm going to kill you", now guess who has a "terrorist threat" on his record at only 8 years old? I pulled him out of that p.o.s. school immediately. With kids you need to take into consideration the "imagination" aspect of things. I remember running around neighborhoods with my bb gun shooting birds when I was younger and there were ZERO issues. Things are changing for the bad real fast.

I caught alot of fish while I was supposed to be in high school , good thing I did not get tazed over a burger though .... talk about blowback , there would have been hell to pay for that .

We homeschool. I currently am teaching 4 of ours. For my eldest son I use Ambleside Online: http://www.amblesideonline.org/ It is Charlotte Mason based education and many of the selections are very male interest oriented. Homeschooling does require a certain amount of patience and dedication to the "cause". Everyday will not go well and if your child had been in public school prior to homeschooling you will find them more difficult to deal with than those who have always homeschooled. It just seems to be part of the withdrawal symptoms.

You will need to make him self responsible rather quickly if he is homeschooling while you are taking care of a baby and working from home. There are numerous online options for various curriculum with outside teachers guiding lessons. I don't know what your philosophical background is, but many choices are religious based. You just have to be persistent in researching the choices you have available. Good luck! There is an education category here where you can post for advice where many of the homeschooling parents lurk.
