I think the first 10 days of Trump's second administration have done more to advance common sense and liberty than we got in 4 years of Biden.
[...]
It allows poor black kids to go to rich white schools. Its a DEI initiative like school bussing. It weakens local segregation policies. Trump did something good?
Heck even The West Wing came down heavily in favour.
Hey, good to see you too.
In case you haven't noticed, and by your snark I can you have not, the government already has its ugly snout in private schooling.
Vouchers are just another way for government to get its hands involved in non-government education. The government should instead be issuing tax refunds for those who don't use government schools.
Well, even though Congress controls both Senate and House, and Trump seems more than willing to change things, looks like all we're going to get are these meaningless EO's.
EO FORMAT:
"I know the people care about X. So Dept. X you better get really hard to work on giving me an idea of how to satisfy my voters in 180 days so that I can review it. So let it be written, so let it be done."
Just write us some more checks Xerxes, at least that is a fair way to inflate and destroy the currency and middle class.
Well, to be fair, a boiled carrot would have done more in that time and in that regard than we got in 4 years of Biden.
It's not a high bar.
You're a pair of idiots. This paves a highway for the E.D. straight into the heart of the business of every private school in this nation.
Conservatism says get "Federal formula funds" back into the hands of the parents who paid those taxes and leave them alone. But you partisans will wag your tails over anything remotely resembling a bone, especially right after a major psyop. No wonder the right foot did at least as much as the left foot to frog-march us into tyranny.
It's true. If you stand for nothing, you'll fall for anything. Even this crap. I expect that of the shill, but one of you has been around here long enough to know better.
Haven’t you heard? America’s version of a South/Central American strong man ruler is a hit. Just wait till he really gets going.
You are the one calling for him to act as a dictator by doing things that require Congress to do but they won't do.
Trump is doing what he's allowed to do to make things better.
That is, quite simply, a lie. I’m not calling on him to do anything at all. Unlike you, I’m well aware that anything someone in government does, except just get the hell out of the way, or in Trump’s case veto just about everything, is more likely to result in less liberty rather than more. People around here used to understand that. Sadly, they seem to have forgotten.
Tulsa said "Conservatism says get "Federal formula funds" back into the hands of the parents who paid those taxes and leave them alone." and you were agreeing with him, you then went on to assail Trump for doing what he did using executive orders.
Since I assume that you wouldn't prefer that Trump just leave things as they were then the only thing you must be calling for is for Trump to either unilaterally cut taxes and the Departmant of Education budget or that he should unilaterally dipense funds from the Department of education budget to taxpayers.
But since you deny wanting those things I guess you don't have a plan you would prefer, you are just a malcontent looking to complain whenever Trump does the best thing he can.
Blah blah blah. You couldn’t handle any “plan” I might present. Trump has done a few good things this time around, but not nearly enough to counterbalance the damage he’scalready done.
Carry on with the Trump ass kissing though. Even authoritarian monsters need some love.
Nice Freudian slip, you couldn't claim Republicans control both houses with a straight face so you said Congress instead.
We all know the Ds+RINOs control both houses and will resist Trump's agenda tooth and nail.
Trump is getting lots of good things done that can be done using EOs, and he's working on twisting arms to get things through Congress.
Just like I thought, no plan other than complaining about things even when they are good.
So even though you are an anonymous poster who agrees with Trump, but cannot coherently explain or justify his actions other than "he has popular support", others who are anonymous posters who disagree with Trump must justify their disagreement with a "plan" or detailed justification for how they would fix "all the things"?
Maybe you should just come to grips with the fact that you aren't interested in liberty or a government of the people, and you just want so bad to be on the winning team. That being said, clearly this is the wrong place for such people. We are clearly the losers in that game. Still hanging around an 18 yr old forum named after an almost dead man who was mocked and never had more than a minority following.
Your tribalism is showing.
Hey, hold off from criticizing Ron Paul.
I agree with some of what you wrote above, but the central issue concerns objective right or wrong. Apparently you believe that no such thing exists, and so therefore it all just comes down to some form of effect: "tribalism", as you call it.
I have felt that myself, so I get what you are speaking to. Yes, the apes tend to choose sides, and it is a sport for them.
But would you grant that there is such a thing as objective truth?
Well, you must grant that, otherwise you would not be able to logically speak against it.
And I assume that you do. You seem like a somewhat-reasonable, well-spoken person to me.
So what is the objection here?
It's because some fear that mental-retardation will come into full effect. Do the Trump-supporters know much about science?
No, they don't.
But neither did the commies.
Yet you do, wizardwatson.
Folks, I need people on my side who are neither this or that, who are neither her nor there, but who choose God Almighty: science itself. Logic itself!
Those are the type of people that I want on my side.
I am a Christian, the extra nutty kind.
I was only sarcastically disparaging Ron Paul, to highlight that by the "Trump standard" Ron Paul is a loser who could never really do anything, so why bother hanging out with us losers. It was tongue in cheek.
I am a Christian who believes that the only thing that really allows me to speak what I believe are the ideals underpinning the Constitution and Bill of Rights (and my own State Constitution). Without these things, it's doubtful it will take long for real Christianity to even be spoken. We already see that trend strengthening with Trump's attempt to enforce antisemitic hate crime laws against American's protesting on college campuses. So while I don't "identify" as libertarian, or conservative, I do see value in an alliance with those who truly believe in truth and liberty, which in my opinion are rooted in Christ.
So when I see people who don't hold these values poopin' in my river, and I have the time and inclination, I resist their attempts adorn themselves with these labels while they reject the substance. That is all.
Christians are themselves divided and separated. But this is prophesied. God will work it out in His own time. Our duty is to press forward even when it feels like we are completely alone.
