Scared of guns myself... can anyone recommend a type stun gun?

I know you guys are probably rolling on the floor laughing atm, but I've always been afraid to shoot a gun, terrified of guns.

Do you think there is any merit in getting a stun gun, and if so, what brand should I get?

Awww how cute. :)

Don't "fear" guns but "respect" them.

A lot of anti-gun folks don't like the idea of someone else (no matter how law-abiding) carrying a gun because they, their self, do not feel they can be trusted with a gun - therefore nobody else can be trusted.

Others are scared of guns because they've seen too many Hollywood movies (unrealistic portrayals of guns) or read/seen too many sensationalist media articles.

But to answer your question... whatever reason you feel you're scared of guns... you shouldn't buy one (initially) but you should go to a range (try going with a friend who has shot before) and RENT a small caliber pistol (a .22 would be a good start). Try a few rounds (a .22 will have virtually no recoil) until you feel comfortable with it. Once comfortable, move up to a .32 or something. Keep working you way up until you find the caliber that you feel most comfortable with - then buy one!! :)

Plus you gotta also remember that military types DO this type training where they go and sit in a chamber pumped with this type shit. Its basic training.

That's just a CS gas chamber. It's not really meant to teach you to resist the agent but to recognize the signs that one is being used (in mass) by the enemy as a weapon against your unit. It also gives you practice on putting your gas mask on.

It sucks really bad but you don't spend a whole lot of time in there.

As someone said before, if you aren't willing to take a life you shouldn't have a gun. I'm a little biased being that I'm deployed Army Infantry. It's not easy and it never will be. But it's either you or him.

refusing to learn to use a gun, and opt for a stun gun, is like saying you want to graph equations using the 6$ Ti scientific calculator's instead of taking the easier root of the 110$ Ti graphing calculator's.

they are both tools, and one is better at accomplishing a goal than the other.

you need training. Training on working with guns and training your mind.
Both can happen and both are fun AND both increase self-dignity!! (which could be why Govt people hate us mere folk doing this)

check out the videos. The best IMHO Clint Smith is awesome.

the new 2009 video on Defense thinking would be great for you (AND ME!!)

stay away from stun guns....IMO.....they are a very close range tool...which means very high training needed...and has a higher failure rate (of stopping the threat) than do guns.
