Say goodbye to gluten: Over 200 clinically confirmed reasons to avoid wheat

Oh..I'm trying the Wheatbelly diet so I can still have a little fruit. (And milk for my one cup of coffee).

Snack tip:

Baked kale chips with coconut oil and sea salt are yummy.

Why eat bread? You don't need bread in your life at all. Before I started eating like this, I had some type of bread or breading in every meal. I thought it would have been impossible not to eat it...but its so easy. When you eat vegetables and fruit, you get the enzymes that make your body function like it should.

I use setian when I make home made veggie burgers..make a lump of dough.. kneed it a bit then start washing the starch off. Leaves you a protein source that crumbles and browns nicely

No problem with fruit in moderation (organic if possible). I whip grass-fed butter into my coffee. Sounds weird. Tastes great.

tofu has never made me terribly happy - soy screws around with estrogen and we don't mess with my hormone levels if at all possible.

I only buy organic. We have an organic co-op here that is pretty awesome. I only allow myself one fruit a day..an orange or apple. Can have one serving of half&half but probably should get off even that. I've never heard of putting butter in coffee..doesn't it make it kind of oily?

I have completely taken processed foods (and gluten) completely out of my diet. It's the easiest thing I've ever done, and I wish I would have done it years ago. The great thing is that you start to crave the foods that you eat all the time. When I get hungry now, I am always craving fruit. I have trouble keeping weight on. All my buddies who I grew up with have guts. I have to lift weights and struggle to keep weight on. And I come from a family of overweight people.

The easiest thing you can do in life is to take processing completely out of your world.

Have you eliminated oils? Just curious. And, since you mentioned fruit..do you juice? Or only eat whole fruit? What differences did you experience by eliminating processed food? Do you eat grain fed meats?

I went gluten free about a year ago. I had severe acne on my face, back, chest, shoulders. Now I'm clear and I tried everything for years. Now if I eat gluten, I break out a day or two later. It's a delayed allergic reaction, but just like clockwork every time.

Interesting.

How does everyone feel about raw?
I eat about 50% raw but it's just too restrictive for me to make that transition. Not to mention the prep time to eat raw and make it tasty. The woman who runs the co-op where I get my produce is 100% raw and she teaches classes, has Youtubes, etc.

Oh I cook with olive and coconut oil and butter. I use unsweetened coconut. I eat avacados and fish and nuts.

I definitely don't drink juice...its only the fruit and vegetables themselves...I think because when you only drink the juice, you don't get the enzymes and nutrients from the fruits and veggies.

I am too poor to eat grain fed meat all the time, but I would love to do that. I eat farm fresh eggs when I can get them. When I buy eggs, I get the ones that aren't fed hormones or antibiotics. I also don't drink out of plastic bottles when I can. Plastic makes your estrogen levels rise. Pesticides and antibiotics do too.

Changes? My body stays at a stable weight....always. I can eat all the fruit I want and not gain body fat. Digestive problems are virtually non-existent. My mood is so much better...less depression. So much more energy. I really do believe that (men especially) should eliminate processing and all of these other chemicals (plastics, antibiotics, and pesticides), because these chemicals are estrogen-mimickers. They can wreak havok on the male body especially.

My 2 cents...

Grain fed = bad. Grass fed = good. Olive oil is 10:1 on Omega 6:3 ratio = pretty bad.

If you stop lifting weight it will be easier for you to keep weight on. Lifting weights causes people to lose weight as it burns calories during the exercise and helps build muscle which burns calories all of the time.

Weight lifting burns very few calories though. I also struggle to keep weight on. I'm 6' 5" and I weighed 170lb (super skinny). Now I weigh 207lb - mostly muscle.

I might burn 400 calories in an hour long session and I workout every other day. So 200 calories burned a day average from exercise. On the days off my muscles rebuild. Yes muscle burns more calories but you simply have to eat a lot. If you're going to deal with the work of gaining weight for aesthetic reasons then muscle is the way to go.

I eat about 3500 calories a day. (Gallon of raw milk, a lot of roasted potatoes, and meat every day).

Edit: Also weight lifting gives you the appetite of an elephant so you can eat a ton afterwards.

Pasteurised juice that you buy in the store is missing a lot of enzymes and nutrients.

If you have a juicer, you can fresh squeeze fruits and veggies. I like to do apples, carrots, beets and ginger with some fresh squeezed OJ or lemons.

I think juicing just removes a lot of the fiber, but you still get a descent amount of fiber from at least my juicer imo.
