i was right I knew mccain would pick her. Well looks like this is going to be a close race and Mccain might win.

wtf... This pick will be worse for him then Lieberman.

Epic failure.

he just won.

Palin is everything the neo-cons could dream of, and she will bring in the old women with the blue hair that adored Hillary.

Because she's a member of a feminist organization?

Palin is a loon. She represents everything Obama's campaign is smearing McCain as.

because they want a woman so bad they would have voted for Hutchinson.

just as if Hillary had won the nomination, and picked Bayh for VP.

then Mccain could have picked Powell or Steele or Rice and won over the black vote.

Palin may me a neo-con loon , but the choice is the most brilliant political move since JFK picked LBJ. he wanted Symington but he wanted the white house more. had Nixon picked Rocky he would have won in 1960.

Palin is not a neocon and Mccain just bit off more than he can chew
I love it

What's an anti-gay pro-life big-government Republican who "signed into law the largest operating budget in Alaska's history ($6.6 billion)." called????

Wow. I'm impressed. I don't know where she stands on foreign policy from her wiki but if what I just read is true she seems like a great pick. I don't know whether to be happy about this (because she comes across as a woman of principle and integrity) or totally bummed (because McCain will probably win).

You have to finish reading the paragraph:
In June 2007, Palin signed into law the largest operating budget in Alaska's history ($6.6 billion).[42] At the same time, she used her veto power to make the second-largest cuts of the construction budget in state history. The US$237 million in cuts represented over 300 local projects, and reduced the construction budget to nearly US$1.6 billion.[43]
It sounds to me like a lot of the construction budget was providing state money for private enterprise.

with the price of gas and other things
have you redused your budget?

you will call her Madam Vice President come Jan 20th.

she is pro-war; otherwise her son would be in college instead of in Iraq with Jimmy McCain.

people join the army for 2 reasons:
1) they believe in the war thing
or
2) they have no money for college

surely the governor of Alaska can afford college for her son, so that leaves #1

just because her son joined the military that makes her pro war?
do you have any kids? thats crazy.

yes-I have children, and they are not in the military.

I knew many people over the years who joined the military, and they all joined for economic reasons.

Palin is rich, or at least well able to afford college. or at least arrange an appointment to West Point. that would at least make some sense. or join ROTC.

but for someone of their class to join as a grunt shows poor judgment on the part of the parents.

you cant make life decisions for your kids
that is up to them not you
you can advise but if you do in fact have kids
you will know that most of the time that will fall on def ears

McCain isn't going to win.

Many conservatives like myself won't vote for him even with a semi-decent pick like Palin.

It seems like a rather conceited choice. "I'm running against a black guy, so I need some "diversity" on the ticket." Lots of people are going to think about the corruption inherent in Alaska's political system (Ted Stevens, for example), and might just make the connection.

I think most people will probably see through his pick as little more than pandering. Eventually, most people are going to see the truth about our party leadership--they are nothing but a bunch of corrupt old warmongers.

I can't stand the thought of Obama in the White House, but I think the alternative is somehow even worse. We have got to get control of our party back.
