With CPAC 2010 finished, media reports are swirling discussing Governor Palin’s absence from this event, which they billed as “mandatory” for conservative candidates for anything. Was it?

SRLC the Real Proving Ground for Gauging A POTUS Run

According to Politico’s Ben Smith, the Southern Republican Leadership Conference (SRLC) is “the first real chance to gauge the interest in her candidacy among the core of Republican activists and operatives” (Painter, 2010, ¶11). Peter Hamby, of CNN describes SRLC as “a major gathering of Republican officials, donors and activists from 14 southern states” (Hamby, 2010, ¶2). “Political watchers will be paying close attention, and not just because several potential presidential candidates are expected to attend. The SRLC – ‘the most prominent Republican event outside of a Republican National Convention,’ the organization boasts – also conducts a presidential straw poll” (Hamby, 2010, ¶5). As noted in prior coverage of SRLC Governor Palin will not be earning a speaker’s fee for this event.

With even a countdown clock . . .
only 1,052 days and some 15 hours until Sarah Palin's Presidential inauguration ?

Gee, all after just leaving the Alaska Governor job under a scandal of impeachment by the Alaska legislature 8 months ago.

Oh common be honest, she left because of ridiculous lawsuits. If you don't like her views then say that...but really silly garbage I sometimes see in relation to her. Yeah I don't like her views much anymore either after she seems to be for war with Iran and shows no inclination towards removing forces from Iraq and Afghanistan. But she is an honest person and she left her governorship to escape the crazy charges being tossed at her.

They basically spammed her and she figured better to leave office. Really I can respect that. But I do not want her for POTUS in any way shape or form. I just like to see things presented fairly.

So just how does her leaving office stop lawsuits ? I really don't understand.
Could leaving office actually prevent her from lawsuits . . . whether frivolous or not ?

The Alaska state legislature had voted to hire an independent investigator, and
Alaska taxpayers paid for that investigation for unethical allegations.
Was she cleared ?

I maintain as very viable that ex- Governor Sarah Palin really gave up and left office
to prevent an impeachment or the embarrassment of potential impeachment proceedings -
for any of her unethical shenanigans that the Alaska legislature was investigating or had investigated.

By the way . . . in Sarah's own words . . . "you deserve extra credit" for enduring her shrill voice speaking here - uggh

We should have a ron paul count down clock on this site.

Yeah . . . maybe to the Iowa GOP Straw Poll in Ames ?

or . . . for that matter even now a countdown to the SRLC 2010 in New Orleans . . .
as Ron Paul will now be there speaking on April 10. We need those straw poll votes first.

If anyone other than Ron Paul wins, it will be significant and a clear sign of where the party's heading.

If Ron Paul wins, it'll be a joke and we somehow figured out how to cheat.

I don't think they'll let it happen. I'm usually not very conspiratorial, but once the first neocon counts up the votes and figure out Paul took it - again - I think the ballot box is going into the toilet. Their egos are far too delicate.

Its still worth it. Do you know how many people will be looking into this straw poll just like they did with CPAC? If all of the top polls which used to be bases become meaningless when RP win people are going to start questioning. Especially when Palin is using this as a stepping stone to her presidential bid. This straw poll should be priority #1 for the RP campaign.

That's right. Dr P got oodles of priceless publicity from CPAC. It was a great investment considering the payout CFL, YAL, etc. accrued.

Also completely worth the effort was the wailing and gnashing of teeth among the ZionCons. The Berfur wing of the party was soooo PO'd it was priceless! :p
