Rush Limbaugh: Ron Paul is Mentally Unstable

Today on Rush Limbaugh's radio program, Rush stated in effect that Ron Paul is mentally unstable. He was describing what the MSM news stories w/b if the various GOP candidates won the New Hampshire and/or Iowa primaries. He gave an example of the Rudy MSM story as, "GOP Voters Decide to Ignore Rudy's 3 Marriages." For Mitt, "Voters Ignore Mitt's Mormonism." And so on for the other candidates. When he got to Ron Paul, Rush said the story w/b "GOP Voters Decide to Ignore Candidate's Mental Instability." Apparently, wanting the federal government to abide by the terms of the Constitution makes one crazy and delusional according to neocon Rush Limbaugh. One positive thing tho', he finally did mention the $4 million November 5th donation tally altho' he had to snidely add that "no one can figure that one out."

You're completely distorting what Rush said. He was describing what the MSM would throw at RP. Rush gave blanket statements of the sort to ALL the Republican candidates.

He wasn't bashing Ron Paul at all.

It's easy to trash Limbaugh, but you conveniently forget how MASSIVE his base is.

Hey JamesMadison, you going to rip apart what our friend Framecut just said??

Not only are we fighting the neocon element in the Republican party, but as well as the Socialist in the Democrat party. I think alot of you need some reminding of that.

I don't think we should label people who use drugs for recreational uses as bums. You do realize that Ron Paul is against the war on drugs, don't you?
I think the central thing that is being missed is that Rush is a total hypocrite - He was a big advocate for the drug war and advocated ruthless sentences for drug crimes. That is the problem with Rush - he is a corrupt hypocrite, a coward and a completely shameless exploiter of the worst in people. This is what I think of people like Rush and other's of his type with high public profiles - in another context, say in the context of the collapse of a society like in Yugoslavia or Nazi Germany - in that environment he and people like him would be the people committing atrocities and promoting hatred. The worst that a given culture allows at the time - these people would be the ones enthusiastically promoting it. It just happens that the worst our society condones at this time is the kind of crap Rush spews on the radio. If our society condoned racism and sexism and facism - he would be spewing that on the radio.

Rush has not been overly critical of Paul. I mean when you compare him to Michael Medved, Sean Hannity or Mark Levin .. Limbaugh has hardly spoken about Paul.

Here is what you should do. Wait until Walter E. Williams is guest hosting the show, hes is known to be a libertarian so he will most likely take a pro-liberty caller. Make your liberty point on whatever subject he is discussing then link it to Paul.

And for the record, Limbaugh can take as much and as many drugs as he likes and I will never tell him he can't. It is not in my power to tell him what type of substances he can and can not put in his body.

You don't want to pick a fight with the largest talk show host in the country. Further, conservatives and republicans listen to Rush's show.

Rush was able to paint McCain as a complete crazy in 2000, especially with McCain's remarks about star wars and darth vader.

Rush has a history of supporting underdogs.

Rush supported Buchanan in 1992 I think.

drug addict, he is no different than a street bum with a mic, lol. Rush the doctor shopper, a priveleged bum.

why call names? I listen to Rush often and I think he is a great commentator and solid conservative who has said often he admires libertarians, he has walter williams, who has endorsed Ron Paul run his show.

We should court him and attempt to solicite more positive comments, polite emails, and calling the show politely, IMO.

Travi, I agree. But sense there is an element of Socialists on this board, as well as some cry-babies. It's not going to happen.

Are we not the heirs of the OLD RIGHT CONSERVATIVES of the past?

Rush is high on Oxycontin again...

And? hundreds of thousands wake up and smoke a bowl, bong, joint whatever... Big deal he's not hurting anyone, and neither are they... however once they do hurt someone then prosecute them...

kthnxbai!

What!

You mean to tell me that numbskull rush is still on the radio? I surely thought that we would have evolved beyond his nonsense by now. I expect he will be a roommate of Betty Ford soon.

Steve

Isn't that what they used to do in the Soviet Union? Brand those who dissented from the ruling orthodoxy as mentally ill and then institutionalize them?

Funny! But you forgot to say that he is also thrice divorced and has never done a day in the military due to a zit on his rectum.

Am I engaging in a personal attack on Drug Limburger? Well, he built an empire lampooning Bill Clinton's personal life.

This is idiocy.

Unlike many here, I actually *LISTENED* to that episode of the Rush Limbaugh show.

Rush wasn't referring to Ron Paul as "mentally unstable", he was describing how the MSM would try and demonize ALL GOP candidates.

Rush basically belted out a list of things the MSM would try and label on all the runners.

So it's not like as if Rush called RP "Mentally Unstable"

Jumping to conclusions is simply in POOR FORM.

Its odd that people were emailing him left and right about that when he really wasn't calling Paul mentally unstable.

wait wait

Hey guys I listen to Rush at lunch and happened to hear this segment. Rush was not criticizing Ron Paul he was criticizing the media.

He paraphrasing what headline the media would run depending on which candidate won. He was saying that the headline would be constructed in a way to undermine confidence in which ever candidate won. In the case of Ron Paul he was saying the MEDIA would say that he's crazy. For Romney he was saying MEDIA would say something like "Wow look a MORMON won even though MORMON's are hated by almost everyone". For Rudy he was saying they'd put his 3 marriages into the headline.

Honestly I think Rush is somewhat sympathetic to Ron Paul, I heard him say something to the effect of: "if Ron Paul won, which.... who knows the man raised something like $4 million in one day so..."

I think the worst thing Rush has ever said previously about him was "look the guy doesn't have a snowball's chance" which (after reading the above quote) he has back-peddled on.

Whether it's Limbaugh, Stephanopoulus or Bill Maher, people seem to think some comments they have made about Ron Paul are snide, but it could just be tongue-in-cheek humour.

In Maher's case this has been proven. In Stephanopoulus' case, I have seen him talk about Ron Paul a few times already and he appears pretty fair and impartial and certainly does not seem like he has ax to grind against Paul.

I can't believe how far Rush and Hannity have strayed from what they used to be. Can anyone remember when these guys used to bash the Dem's for violating the Constitution? I can. Today the roles have switched and these two douche bags have shown themselves for what they really are: Republican lap dogs, who do whatever their party tells them to.

These two now have no respect for the Constitution, and are using the same tactics the Dem's used to use. Destroy a persons credibility by attacking the person not the views. Pejorative epithets will not substitute for healthy debate.

Given the context you gave (where Rush was making fun of the perceived MSM negative slant on Republican candidates), Rush may very well have been completely joking. People who don't listen to him much don't understand that he says alot of things in jest (in all fairness, I haven't listened to him much in years since my schedule doesn't permit it, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was all in jest). Rush rarely attacks other Republicans (except McCain...he likes to attack McCain).

And just as a general plea: can we PLEASE be polite when we send letters?!!! Apparently, alot of RP supporters are completel jack-asses when they send letters (and reading some of the forums, it's not a hard thought to comprehend). For F^&*'s sake, when you send a letter, be cordial. People have already pissed of Mark Levin (who wasn't really on our side, but wasn't AGAINST us either) and a few others. It's not necessary. BE POLITE!!!!! People are much more likely to be nice and at least polite to RP even if they disagree with him if his supporters don't seem like jerks. I send letters to but they start off with "Dear Mr. _____," start off with effusive praise (for whatever area in which I think they do well...Even Hannity gets some things right) and continue with a plea to be true to their principles and give RP a fair shot. I think that strategy is much more effective than the angry letters I know Rush must've gotten after saying this on-air.
