Rush invoked the 1964 Goldwater speech

He asked if listeners even knew who was speaking. I know many of you have listened to the speech as I have - I emailed him and told him so.

He was pining for the old days, he said he is a purist and wants to have conservatism return to its old ways, and he hates to see conservatism "redefined" by someone like Hucksterbee.

I told him that it was already redefined when GWB decided to forget what he said in 2000 and do a 180.

Anyone else care to email Rush and say "I'm a Ron Paul supporter and I know the speech!!!" feel free.

Yesterday, on his tirade about how there were no Regan conservatives amidst the republican field. He then kind of paused and said, "well maybe there is one". But he wouldn't mention Ron Paul by name. I hope he comes out and says it after today.

I know “The Speech” well. What a timeless statement of conservative thought, I still get goosebumps whenever I hear it. There are a ton of us Goldwater Republicans still out here, and a lot of us are quietly supporting Ron Paul.

Well, you need look no further. Goldwater wrote, "The turn will come when we entrust the conduct of our affairs to the men who understand that their first duty as public officials is to divest themselves of the power that they have been given. It will come when Americans, in hundreds of communities throughout the nation, decide to put the man in office who is pledged to enforce the Constitution and restore the Republic. Who will proclaim in a campaign speech: 'I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs, but to cancel the old ones that do violence to the Constitution, or that have failed in their purpose, or that impose on the people an unwarranted financial burden. It's time to come out for the one man carrying on the Goldwater legacy. It's time to come out for the man Barry Goldwater, Jr. himself has endorsed, because he too knows that there's only one candidate carrying on his father's fight.

Absolutely amazing! If Rush reads this specifically, there is no way in hell he could not support Paul!


As much as some of you guys hate Rush, I think that his conservatism is there, but he would have rather picked a neoconservative than any liberal, which I understand. Not to mention, he's got huge support among hardline base Repubs, and an endorsement from Rush would be huge for us.

RP goes against the party, goes against the war, therefore, he's not even an option. Which is why Rush and these guys say, "There's no more conservatives out there..." because RP doesn't exist to them, he's just some "fringe" guy.

Only when the PEOPLE vote for Ron Paul, then they'll have to realize he's their true candidate.
