Ruh-Roh. Economic MELTDOWN today...

sadly, until it puts them in bread lines... no it won't. The majority of people will just think the market is sour, but will never understand WHY. Call it ignorance, call it stupidity... the masses will take what ever explanation is given to them by the government.

willful ignorance.

the markets have it comin'

Sad thing is, with the markets closed today, everyone has a chance to plan their move tomorrow....Can you say WE'RE SUNK?

This is exactly why there is nothing wrong with covert anti-government propaganda. :D

My question, I was going to open up a IRA with my tax refund, but should I just start investing in Gold and Bullets?

Can someone please explain to me how this affects you average Joe? (no sarcasm intended)

WOW. Germany's DAX down 7%....thats crazy!

All Asia down 3-4%

Us Futures down 2+%

"Our economy is fine" - Mike Huckabee

Romney types are part of the problem. They produce nothing of value with their financially engineered products. Romney is one of the people who compounded our problems.

My retirement funds are shrinking for a start. Not to mention that's what's left of them will be worth less due to the coming inflation (mass printing of more money).

Prices will be rising soon. Watch for it.

Is it a holiday in the states today?

i havn't seen the dow move.

Martin Luther King, Jr. day, the reason for the money bomb...

Yes, our markets are closed, which means we at least are getting some real clear warning bells and are ready to move first thing tomorrow!

(or at least I am)

Romney didn't run a company that did anything productive. They were venture capitalists. As soon as people start explaining to Joe Sixpack what that means, they will be turned off big time. Romney is no businessman in the Henry Ford sense of the word, a man who actually DID something. ....what passes for a "businessman" today boggles my mind, and the press is so clueless they don't even know what questions to ask.

This is so true, and a sad state of affairs. I like things a lot better when venture capitalist were more properly called 'junk bond' traders, probably not quite the right term but certainly closer to the mark.

This is just the begining of something really ugly. To use a baseball analogy this is like the very first batter striking out. We had an unprecedented era in terms of runaway financial bubbles, first tech stocks, then housing, and in addtion to finance. That companies such as Bear Sterns have post first ever losses in their entire existance should give some idea to the magnitude of the problem. Likewise the rush to stimulus when there has been no talk of a real recession...

Funny how the Goldman Sachs fox, Paulson has been left to watch the hen house, i.e. the treasury. Paulson moreso than others should have an idea of what is going on since he profited mightily when these toxic assets were first pawned off on investors. Tomorrow could be very ugly on Wall St.
