The walking dead that inhabit DC have apparently been busy biting into new politicians.

What is up with all of the Rubio sellouts?

First we have Trey Gowdy and Tim Scott who were supposed to be more "Tea Party" like, and now we have Nikki Haley and even Mike Lee is appearing with Rubio. Rubio is not only an establishment RINO, but openly and avidly neoconservative. Why would so many politicians start jumping on the Rubio bandwagon? What is being promised (or threatened)?

Additions:
Exclusive: Mitt Romney To Endorse Marco Rubio
Indiana Sen. Coats endorses Rubio for GOP presidential nod
North Carolina Sen. Thom Tillis backs Rubio for GOP nomination
Jeff Flake endorses 'Gang of Eight' co-member Marco Rubio
Matt Salmon endorses Marco Rubio for president
Former Sen. Jon Kyl endorses Marco Rubio for president
Florida U.S. Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Mario Diaz-Balart & Carlos Curbelo Endorse Marco Rubio For President

Maybe a lot of them just really hate Cruz and Trump?

Probably both. The establishment promises not to threaten their position if they go along with status quo.

Isn't it clear?

You could almost hear the old money establishment collectively crapping their pants when Jeb surfaced in the first debate looking like a scolded dog. Those that aren't tied to the Bush family Hell or high water, immediately jumped to Rubio. "Oh, shit. Time for Plan B, Sheldon".

It is kind of obvious.

They are attempting to prevent Trump from winning South Carolina.

If Trump crosses the Rubicon, it's all over for any chance of stopping him.

Bush is shunned. Carson is asleep. Cruz is hated. Kaisich is crumbling.

Only Rubio can stop Trump.

So, if you believe that, if nominated; Trump will destroy the GOP (which I do), and believe that he may lose decisively to the Dems (which he might)....then it almost forces them to endorse Rubio.

Haley will be the new Rubio in 2020.

Yeah, the carrot for Haley couldn't be more obvious. A VP slot or more in her future for playing along with the establishment and neoconservatives. The stick (if there is one right now) could be Bill Kristol holding a copy of an embarrassing tape somewhere (pure speculation, based only upon on gossip and first person testimony by that guy at FITS) .

Trump won't win, if he gets nominated he will get slaughtered in the general election. Republicans will be running against Hillary in 2020.

. . . now we have Nikki Haley and even Mike Lee is appearing with Rubio. . . .

Gov. Haley endorsing Rubio for president
U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio will win South Carolina’s most Republican coveted endorsement of the 2016 presidential race when
Gov. Nikki Haley announces her support at a Chapin rally on Wednesday evening, a source with knowledge of the governor’s decision told The State.

Bush told NBC News on Tuesday that Haley’s endorsement is “the most powerful meaningful one in the state.”

Mike Lee is appearing at events with Cruz and Rubio out of a gesture of friendship.

I kind of wish Christie was still in the race. Rubio almost cried last time Christie went at him; I think it might happen if someone goes at him again. That would toast the little weasel. lol

Probably so, since the illegal aliens can vote now. We truly live in a banana republic now.

Hillary's negatives are nearly at Trump's. If they run her, she will be in a dogfight, thanks to her political baggage. Trump has the benefit of being a non-politician in a climate where politicians have screwed everything up. The dems should seriously think about running Bernie since his unfavorables are very low (mid 30s). Trump can outright beat Hillary, especially if he continues with no filter.

I have a pretty string feeling that you're correct. Half of the GOP hates him. 3/4ths of the Dems hate him.

The GOP will either put up someone else in a brokered convention, or he will run, lose to hillary (or bernie if he gets it)...and all hell will break lose...literally. If a Dem wins, I cannot forsee a non violent transition of power. People are too pissed off. They will riot.
