UPDATE: here we go:

---------------------------------------------------
So I got a request from Casey to make a video to put on the website tomorrow since RPF will be open during the blackout. Since it's last minute I need your guys' help to come up with something to make.

here are some options:
- voice over of someone talking about SOPA
- ron paul talking about SOPA (don't think we have anything, but we can squeeze RP in somewhere)
- you guys/gals on cam or voice talking about SOPA
- text video no voice over of SOPA

Remember I gotta finish this in 6 hours so time is of the essence.

My suggestion was to start with a nice full screen video with good audio quality, etc. Slowly minimize the screen and lower the audio until the screen is just black. Another suggested that we start just removing everything that would disappear under sopa until the screen is black.

Mmm, well since its a Ron Paul site I think Ron Paul should be tied in there somewhere. Not just someone simply talking about SOPA via voice over. Has Ron said anything regarding SOPA? I know he's been busy and all. Since time is a factor, I think it would be much easier to do text and get the point across. Oh and maybe some Kelly Clarkson in there too ;)

How about individuals with black duct tape over their eyes, mouth, ears, whatever... no spoken word. Like the avatars we did for black this out.

Edit: add in the sound of radio 'static' or a record skipping. with quick flashes of "SOPA" (obvious subliminal) between the images.

we could have a voice over talk about the effects of SOPA and the screen will start deteriorating.

we can have the voice over say: this is the world we lived in yesterday.. (and it shows a vibrant growing thriving internet of some sorts, and explains why a free internet thrives)
then he starts going this is the world we live in today and he says all the stuff why sopa is bad (and the thing that was growing starts to deteriorate or shrink)
and he just keeps talking and then he goes, this is the world we will live in tomorrow (and it will just be black)

i dont know haha... what do you think

He mentioned it briefly today at the Spartanburg townhall. Searched CNN to find the coverage but to no success. However it must be out there.

I think that could be really good.

a photo.....parts of it start missing, dropping out until you can't tell what the subject originally was.

pause

This is a lot like SOPA: you won't be able to see the whole, big picture.

well that would be easy! we can get someone to do the voice over for us. melissa can do it :)

It was me that suggested the parts disappearing. I mentioned a video because there are some YouTubes that are harmless, good fun, and that everyone knows of... but that have stolen soundtracks, feature trademarked characters, and so on.

Any of the other ideas would also be good :)

Maybe you could throw in this Ben Franklin quote at the end.

Ben Franklin said:
Whoever would overthrow the liberty of a nation must begin by subduing the freeness of speech.

I was thinking about this since early this morning - but couldn't get anything off the ground. Thanks for taking up the cause Chainspell! +rep

How about comparing it to the BTO moneybomb? "We've stood up against their media outlets, now we stand against their legislation!" It's the same conglomerates pushing this as run the MSM - CNN "disclosed" this this morning to appear unbiased, that Time Warner, CBS, ABC, Fox, ad nauseum, were pushing SOPA with the MPAA and RIAA.

This is the same fight, but now they're trying to black out more people. So the internet said "Black This Out".

Ron's definitely saying piracy. It sounds clear as day to me.

Really, at the :21 mark? Not to beat a dead horse but that doesn't sound right. Or perhaps he does mean protect privacy, which doesn't make sense either. I just want our man to sound his most coherent and powerful but I guess one could always just pull the best quick clips from this.
