RPF Member - Alex Merced- Running for Public Advocate in NYC

They have no real power, they are a tie breaking vote if there is a tie in city council, and they get to make a few appointments

they are like the vice president of NYC, if something happens to the Mayor, they become mayor, other than that they are just supposed to complain about themayor for political points.

Part of my platform is eliminating the position, which if I won I'm sure the city council would have no problem doing.

LOL , Excellent !

just an update, I've been doing what I can to promote my candidacy in New York City. Unlikely I'll win, but I'm hoping for an impressive showing that may garner so media attention (libertarians generally get only a couple thousand votes in NYC, it's looking like I'll get much more).

I've taken up repealing the cabaret laws (licenses for you to have an establishment of "Social Dance" in new york city) as an issue that I think everyone can get behind (kinda like Ron Paul with Raw Milk).

The video I've been sharing that has convinced a handful of non-libertarians to seriously vote for me I had one person say after I talked to him (I'm still going to vote for DiBlasio and for Stringer, but for PA I'll vote for you"
