Total Vote Count -- Combined IA, NH, and MI Results
Posted by Nick Bradley at January 16, 2008 08:08 AM

Here are the combined vote totals for IA, NH, and MI:

Romney - 443,139 Total Votes – 36.89%
McCain - 361,546 Total Votes – 30.10%
Huckabee - 207,308 Total Votes – 17.26%
Paul - 84,554 Total Votes – 7.04%
Giuliani - 50,925 Total Votes – 4.24%
Thompson - 49,198 Total Votes - 4.10%
Hunter - 4,567 Total Votes - 0.38%

Paul is in a solid fourth, increased his percentage lead over Giuliani by 300% in Michigan, and should stay in fourth through SC and NV, where Thompson and Giuliani will close the gap in each state. In other news, the latest CNN/Politico/LA Times California poll has Paul at 8%, with no candidate garnering more than 20% in the poll. The poll had a huge margin of error (6%), which makes Paul and four other candidates technically tied in the Golden State.

In perspective, it was only like 3 months ago we were polling around Hunter and Tancredo, now we're beating Giuliani and Thompson. With the kinda media blackout we've had, this is pretty amazing.

Amen to that!

So many have gone so negative about the results thus far.

Negativity serves no purpose on this earth or in this life whatsoever. Noone has ever accomplished anything of any significance with a negative attitude.

Yeah, Negativity ony ruins things, I ran a retail store, a few small mistakes made everyone start being negative and ruined the vibe that fueled the place and it ended up closing.

I agree! Negativity is in the eye of the beholder I guess. Some view is positive and some negative.

I agree this is amazing what is happening right now. I am truly shocked that Ron Paul has polled pretty good considering the blackouts, smears, bias, etc

Negativity is like stress; a little bit helps you develop a realistic expectation, too much drains the life out of you. As the Greeks would say “know thyself and all things in moderation.”

I agree I wish the one thing the grassroots would learn is to stop bitching long enough to get work done. I still see some looking at Michigan and if we could get them all over here like maybe post stuff on all nevada sights or something to help out but some in here will just bitch till the day of the votes and then bitch why we did not win

Agreed! For a grassroots movement ... this is can only be considered a true victory!

You forgot Wyoming

Paul - 84,554 Total Votes – 7.04%
.

Lets do the math shall we?

3 states and a total of 85K divided by 3 equals an average of 28k per state.

Now if there are 50 states with an average of 28k ardent Ron Paul supporters that amounts to....lets see....yeah carry the one...WOW!

1.5 million RABID Ron Paul supporters...already!

And some say that the movement is losing momentum.
I think I hear Karen Carpenter singing "We've only just begunnnnnn....."

Paul - 84,554 Total Votes – 7.04%

Less than 5% of the population has voted so far. 84,554 x 20 = 1.7 million (I know the math isn't perfect because of differences in turnout, but bear with me). That would shatter the previous record for a Libertarian presidential candidate (Ed Clark's 920K in '80) if Paul ran under that party's banner, and is over four times Paul's own vote total in '88. Presuming the usual 50-60% turnout in national elections, that's 1.5% of the vote - seems small, but he effectively holds the balance of power. And I think he could only do better with just two opponents, neither of whom will probably be very popular figures.

Lets not forget this isn't about the percentage of voters voting for Paul, it's about delegates.

Romney 52

Huckabee 22

McCain 15

Thompson 6

Paul 2

Giuliani 1

Hunter 1
