You could've been that vote, Nikki.
A complete disgrace. C4L apparently issued all 800 tickets to supporters and less than 438 of them bothered showing up to vote in a straw poll that was ridiculously winnable with massive payoff. What does that say about our ability to win the far more challenging Louisiana caucus in 2012?
The CPAC victory sparked a small flame of hope for 2012 by demonstrating to the sheeple that Ron Paul is a winner. An SRLC victory could have fanned that flame, but instead we let it get snuffed out through laziness and apathy. The whines of "it was rigged!" just add to the disgrace.
90% of the sheeple see the headline "Romney Wins SRLC Straw Poll" and move on. There is a complete world of difference between that and "Ron Paul Wins SRLC Straw Poll".

I heard the results of this poll on the radio this morning. I don't know who was more happy my son or I to hear his name in second place.
Even more happy to now know by a single vote.
Ron Paul 2012 !!!!![]()
@WRSpolling: A lot of ballots came in late, hopefully release #SRLC Straw Poll results in the next 20-30 mins http://bit.ly/aHipZS.
@DavidCornDC: Nice to see the GOPers at #SRLC endorse the notion of mandating health insurance purchases.

Romney Celebrates Near Loss to Ron Paul
Posted by Lew Rockwell on April 10, 2010 06:01 PM
Mitt Romney, who has been buying votes at the Southern Republican Leadership Conference, beat Ron Paul by a measly one. Sarah Palin was third and Newt Gingrich was fourth. Check out the triumphalist tone of this typical story. It shows how worried the regime and its media have been. And you know what? Their worries have only begun. The hilarious “Evangelicals for Mitt” spread the dough around for months. Ron Paul’s small effort only started in the last couple of weeks. So by any honest measure, the uncrook actually won over the warfare-[welfare] state’s Richie Rich.
Things that make you go "hmmmm."
Cute how, according to neocon central, Paul winning straw polls is meaningless, while Mandate Mitt RomneyCare's win represents "momentum." Speaking of which:
Bad move to boo the Israel comment. Silence would have been better. That kind of thing doesn't help Paul at all with the GOP Israel Firsters.
Lew's blog post on this killed me!:
FTFH.
hell Bill Frist won the straw poll in 2006....he didnt even run for President
Well registration closed at 1p on Saturday - those who showed up afterwards were not allowed in. People who tried to vote early on Friday were turned away because the ballots were not ready. Parking at the hotel was full and the closest parking was 15 minutes away by foot. And sinage within the hotel regarding where to go to vote was lacking or flat out nonexistent.A complete disgrace. C4L apparently issued all 800 tickets to supporters and less than 438 of them bothered showing up to vote in a straw poll that was ridiculously winnable with massive payoff.
