Ron's Son is NOT for assasination.

Basic summary: Rand is running for President in 2016 and decided to dodge a position that got Ron insane amounts of flak.

Why make mountains out of molehills? Especially when such a minor issue will paint our man as a terrorist sympathizer

Rand handled it exactly how I wanted him to

It is pure b.s. that some of you are saying Rand is pro-assassination. It's pretty much the same naysayers that were around in 2010

The bottom line in all of this for me is if you actually believe Rand would assassinate an American citizen. I do not believe that.

Rand is the more political of he and his father. Ron is pretty blunt and Rand tends to be more "politically correct" if you please. Some don't like it, but he's now a Senator and he's in our court.

I remember several years ago when Rand was running in KY and people on the Mises forums and this board went ape crap over statements Rand made that seemed to indicate he was a warmonger and against civil liberties for Guantanamo...etc etc.... and it turned out to be just not so.

This.

There are a handful of purists who wish to throw Rand Paul under the bus. They pretty much get a hard-on any time Rand makes an intelligent decision to avoid discussing minor theoretical points or issues. We saw what happened when he was too philosophic on the CRA: it became something which plagued his campaign and will certainly crop back up in 2016

Why does Rand choose his battles? Because he knows how to play politics while maintaining his integrity.

It is DUMB to pick a fight on every single issue. Candidates win elections by outlining a plan but staying vague. Coming out on 500 different issues like Ron does is simply not smart politics. It's the reason our movement has had zero traction in politics.

If you guys want the liberty movement to only be found at small gatherings of purists, then so be it. Meanwhile, the rest of us are going to keep working to put the first liberty president into office

Does Gary Johnson oppose murdering U.S. citizens. Maybe he'll run again in 2016 though he is really boring.

Come on bro. I'm looking at it objectively as I can and I don't think he was endorsing assassination. He was trying to reason with a warmonger that will hopefully end up supporting him in the future.

When Rand runs in 2016, you know damn well all of Ron's so-called "greatest hits" so to speak are going to be juxtaposed against Rand in debate format, because there is little if anything you can attack Rand on. They're going to attack Rand through Ron's past statements and he better be quick on his feet to avoid the label. Politics is all about labeling. Right now, the establishment is extremely frustrated because they've been a failure in successfully labeling Rand as a fringe player.

I agree. They tried to do it during the Senate race. All the major neo-cons came out against it

It seems like Rand is succeeding in avoiding the kook label, though...at least among conservatives and moderates.

He's on Hannity all the time, and rank-and-file repubs seem to like him.

Sadly, all of the negatively towards Ron will definitely be thrown on him by the media
