In Josh's original post on the chip-in he wrote:
The booth will be used to showcase RonPaulForums.com and how easy it is to communicate and share ideas with other liberty minded patriots.(if wifi is available) We will also sell Liberty Straw Poll tickets at the booth.

So let's get some solid plans. What should we do? Who wants to be a part of it?

The Rally is of course from 12:30pm - 10:00pm - I'm expecting that during the rally we'll all pretty much want to be in attendance. After the rally people will pretty much be ready to leave- but we could have shop set up for a half hour or so while people file out.

So the real action will be before the rally. Anyone know when the doors open? We should be there by then.

Doors open at 11:30.

I would imagine there will be a fair amount of milling about going on throughout the day - kind of like a party convention. I would think most of the booths will be staffed all day long as people come and go out of their seats - 9.5 hours is a long time to sit!

Set it up with a computer, printer, and member list and print out nametags for the members.

If you have internet connectivity make them log on to get their nametag.....

Otherwise, if tons of folks are hanging out at the booth, that alone would be good advertising. :)

It would be even cooler if you could print out our avatars on the nametags....

Yes, have LOTS of name tags so people can list their RPFs names as well. It's been fun for meet meeting in person RPFs friends when I travel or when they come here.

maybe a little business card with rpf.com- and a catchy little phrase ex."where liberty lovers choose their topics" or "where liberty topics and news are discussed" i would just have a few computers out and show how easy it is to get around the forums and get interested people to create an account...

maybe if you set up account you get a fiji water while supplies last...

Yea keep the booth open and staffed throughout the whole day.

I would recruit people from the forums to staff the booth. Make a schedule with people 'working' 1 hour shifts or something like that.

There definitely should be a way to get people signed up at RPF. At least get their name and email, then you can send a mass email asking people to register. A good way to do this is to have people fill out slips of paper for a drawing for something. Maybe a signed copy of the Manifesto?

Is there still an extra ticket for a seat on the main floor? You could use it as incentive to get people to work the booth. Every hour you work the booth, you get an hour in an awesome seat for the Rally.

Just curious... are they providing the actual physical booth, or do you need to bring in your own? Usually at these kinds of things you have the option of bringing in your own or paying them a crapload of money to rent it for a day. They might charge you $200 for a table, $50 for a chair, $100 for wi-fi access, etc. I don't know how Target Center works though, maybe they just provide it all.

Throwing out a few things:

What about having a computer logged in with a username of like "livefromrpfbooth" and have anyone type what they think, have seen, and what is happening at the Center. Have some paper signs telling people that anyone can type on it and leave their name if they want on the post or just go anonymous. Have a thread started where people can interact with people in the booth. Kinda like liveblogging.

I also second having someone there all day. I think volunteers will be easy.

Maybe have some competition polls or threads started before the rally asking people for the best thread, most unusual thread, funniest thread, or about people most posts, best posts, friendliest poster, etc. Then stop the contest a few days before to allow you to figure out who won. Make posters about what happened and maybe even print out the threads and highlight the notable parts.

Make a report sheet about all of the above that people can take away.

Make sure to make a printed Press Release about RPF for any press that might wander by. Good to be professional even though we are all supposed to be crazy.

I think we should get a HD projector and 76 inch screen. We should project the Fiji Water thread onto it all day long. Good idea?

Who wants to wear the tin foil hat and run around rambling something incoherent about being a doctor who doesn't want to get dragged off to a fema camp? I feel that they deserve adequate representation.

Make a live stream from the booth, that'd be really interesting for those who could not have made it.

Try justin.tv or ustream

FWIW, I like this idea.

live blogging great idea-
how about something (signatures or sayings written on a letter or quilt, ) signed by people that will be sent to troops, congressmen or someone else, courtesy of RPF

FYI im three vodkas deep right now...

Thanks for the info and ideas, I'm good with basically all them (not sure about the hat thing... :)).

What we need is people to vonuteer to bring what is needed to get the ideas done- and then has some vounteer shifts of something like 20-30 minutes, with maybe 2 at the booth minimum. Key times should be:

11:30 - 1.
5-6:30
10:00-10:30

If we have a computer it may be best to use some old laptop. I like the live blogging and also having the chat room open.

So who can bring something to get any of the above done?

Who'll hang out for a 2o minutes or so at a preset time (ie: plan a break, get something to eat, hang out at the booth, etc)? I think exact times will be set once we get a more detailed schedule of what is going on at the rally- but we just need a show of hands for this mini-project.

I should note- I had already committed to helping the CFL video team do video work during the rally, so that is going to consume a lot of my attention. Josh isn't going to be there (he's already done 3 out of state trips for several weeks for the campaign)-- so we need help to pull this off.

I'm guess they'll provide a table or two. Wifi is likely extra (maybe $20 for anyone for the day)- and I'm trying to find out about A/C power.

i'll stand around it and drink a few beers
Excellent! Our first volunteer! :)

Thanks everyone!

If I can get the funds to go to the rally after all, I'd be more than happy to stand around and help out :)
