RonPaulCards.com is back up and operational again for 2012

I guess I should start by thanking you for being so passionate about the cards. Here's the problem though...I can't please everyone.

I get suggestions literally every day about how I could have done a better job with these cards, but I have to take a middle road on them. I think you might be assuming that every person that gets these cards reads EVERY line of them too...I really doubt it. My goal with these cards really is more to make him seem like a nice, smart older gentleman, and to build curiosity and interest in him. Remember that many elections are won on sheer name-recognition, not on policies. While nobody is going to make their decision based on these cards, some might start investigating further.

1. This is a non-issue...nobody is going to notice/care that his picture is flipped. People that get these cards have probably never heard of or seen him before, and won't be picking apart his photo.

2. Good suggestions, though mentioning "Tom Woods" means nothing at all to the average person. I could be more specific on his record and the fact that it is unmatched in the history of our country.

3. Nobody cares about the semantics of how he'll accomplish these things, they just need to know what his goals are. "Strongly pressuring" congress sounds like he's manipulative, so people like us care about how he does it, but average voters couldn't care less.

4. Your suggestion here would be an empty promise, because there's really no chance in hell that he could withdraw our troops from EVERY country we are occupying. I like what you're saying, but its not humanly possible and thus doesn't belong on the cards.

5. "strictly enumerated". Using a word like "enumerated" on this card would immediately alienate most average people. I bet 1 in 5 people walking down the street could actually give you a definition for that word. However, your suggestion about vetoing any bills that exceed the federal governments powers is smart.

Again, thanks for taking the time to send these suggestions. Don't get so stuck in the details though, remember that the purpose of these cards is to build curiosity and interest, not to convince someone to vote for Ron Paul from reading the card alone.

Thanks for responding.

As you may have seen, I toned down my intro later; "couldn't have done a worse job if you tried" was way too strong.

Also, I can appreciate that, with anything like this, you get tons of suggestions from people saying you should've done this or shouldn't have done that.

I know most people have never heard of Tom, which was why I suggested adding his academic credentials. When someone has three ivy league degrees in U.S. history and has written several NY Times Best-Sellers on U.S. history (as well as on other subjects), you have to figure he has at least a passing knowledge with all of the major figures in Congress over 200+ years. So, when he says that Ron's voting record is unprecedented in all of U.S. history, that's quite an endorsement.

You obviously disagree, but I still think these would be better to mention as many specifics as possible, and there's plenty of info out there. I understand that the cards are just to whet someone's curiosity and get them to investigate more, but vague platitudes and generalities make him sound like just another politician -- which he most definitely is not. Why would anyone care to investigate that?

"1. This is a non-issue...nobody is going to notice/care that his picture is flipped. People that get these cards have probably never heard of or seen him before, and won't be picking apart his photo."

I noticed. It's not going to cause someone to toss the card, but it'd look better unflipped.

But I only quote this because you said that "People that get these cards have probably never heard of or seen him before." EXACTLY. That's why you need to stress specifics instead of generalities. Even Bob Dole talked about "getting back to the constitution" when he ran for president, for Pete's sake.

"3. Nobody cares about the semantics of how he'll accomplish these things, they just need to know what his goals are. "Strongly pressuring" congress sounds like he's manipulative, so people like us care about how he does it, but average voters couldn't care less."

I agree. But these cards would be a lot more powerful with specific goals, rather than vague generalities.

Thanks again for responding.

Seeing Ron in the debate tonight got me choked up for some reason. I guess it just made me really appreciate him, but also made me appreciate all of you guys that support him too. I'd say I was "hopeful" in the 2008 campaign; now, I'd say I'm DESPERATE for him to win in this campaign. Our country needs Dr. Paul and you guys are doing such a great job helping to get him into the white house. Its just a shame the MSM are all so deeply embedded and such douchebags.

And by the way, we're a handful of orders away from selling 100,000 cards this year. I'll definitely try to do something special after 100k are sold.

I know you had a discussion previously with another poster about updating the cards with specifics, but what are the odds that you will release some new cards that include specifics regarding Ron's new economic plan? You could bolster the parts about cutting the government and withdrawing troops using the specific steps outlined in the plan. I think this would give people the specifics and, honestly, they do help.

Either way, I'm glad to see you're selling so many of these cards. I remember buying a large order of them in 2007 and passing them out on campus. They get a great response.

Actually, the odds are VERY good. I've been promising new cards for awhile but have gotten so busy in my personal life that I've had to put it off for a bit. My wife has actually been doing all the shipping for me lately. We just restocked the older version of the cards so now is my "buffer time" to get the new one designed. I'll absolutely be including Dr. Paul's economic plan in the updated version, as well as a plethora of other great ideas I've gotten from you guys.

I'd conservatively estimate that the new cards will show up by mid-to-late-November, so as to not over-promise as I did before.
