Ron Paul’s Virginia surprise

Yes it is. I was hoping he'd grab 3 or 4 of the southern congressional districts - but 1 is better than 0

We didn't win, but I am proud to be able to say that no state has ever given as much of its vote to Ron Paul as my state did today.

But, with nearly all the votes counted in the Commonwealth, Paul is receiving 41 percent of the vote statewide. That is by far the largest percentage of the vote he has won in any state since he began running for president in 2008.

Ummm, Maine anyone???

Excellent! Being a Virginian I'm especially happy to see this. I didn't realize until today that there was a loophole in the 50% rule. I though Romney would get all the delegates as long as he got 50% of the vote.

I'm still a little annoyed that the campaign didn't push in Virginia, but I feel better knowing that we didn't get shut out.

Ron Paul's Virginia Surprise either sounds like a really good dish or a really stiff drink. These are the random things that go through my head as I wait for primary results.

i m surprised he took in 41%, but unfortunately Romney getting more than 50% gave him most of the delegates.

I speculated before that he could do very well %wise but not gain ay delegates because of the way they are awarded in VA. So it's good news he won something. A 1on1 with Romney there was never going to guarantee any delegates, especially polling in the 20s with a 40% deficit.

Paul actually won the late deciders and the independents and he kept Romney in the 50%. About as good as you could expect in a non-fantasy scenario, other than maybe winning a couple more districts.
