Ron Paul’s son Robert running for Congress?

Dr. Robert Paul, Ron Paul’s son, may follow his father’s footsteps and run for office. Thanks to LewRockwell.com for directing us to this article.

BENBROOK — Inside one local doctor’s office, Rep. Ron Paul of Lake Jackson is still in the presidential race and John McCain is nowhere.

“I don’t think my dad will ever support McCain,” said Dr. Robert Paul, behind a stack of bumper stickers that promote his father’s maverick campaign for president.

Robert Paul, 42, knows now that his father won’t win.

But he doesn’t think any other Republican can.

“[Barack] Obama will win, anyway,” the son said Thursday between patients at his 18-year family medicine practice. “Unless something drastic changes, we are going to have a Democratic president.”

Robert Paul, one of a family of five, moved to Fort Worth from Lake Jackson for medical school and has lived quietly for more than a decade in the Westcliff neighborhood.

He only recently joined a local Republican club, but he wants to start making every meeting. And he says the “Ron Paulites” — his term — are pushing him to run for office.

Gah, the obligatory defeatism and chopped quotes in that article.

Still, good to hear Robert's getting involved! Good for him. :D

his name is robert paulson... his name is robert paulson... sorry couldn't help it :)

I'm dumb, too....

His name is Robert, Paul's son. His name is Robert, Paul's son.

I couldn't either.

I never understood why the hopes of all a politicians supporters get placed on a relative when it's time to pass the torch. Who cares if he's RP's son? Does he have the same views and ethical fortitude? Does he even want to run?

Is Hillary qualified to be Prez because she was married to one? Was Sonny Bono's wife qualified to take over his congressional seat after he died?

omg... when did people elect sonny bono as a congressmen? People take him seriously?

I would love to see Rand run as well. I live in his district and it is a Republican stronghold in KY. Our current congressman (Ron Lewis) opted not to run this year. It would have been a wonderful opportunity for Rand, but the deadline has passed. In a recent conversation, he mentioned that it takes about $1 million to run for congress. I could tell by the look in his eyes that he was itching to follow in his dad's footsteps. I would love the privilege of campaigning for a Paul in my very own hometown. :)
