Ron Paul's reaction to 9/11

In a hypothetical sense if Ron Paul would have been president during 9/11 and faced with a disaster at that caliber. What do you think his response would have been?
 
It would have probably been the letters of marque that he initially proposed in congress, there would be no Iraq war, there would be no Afghan war. There would be small teams going into Afghanistan to capture the people who were believed to be responsible and they would have been put on trial rather than being waterboarded into a confession.

That's if things went his way, realistically I believe they would have just threatened him into doing what they want or killed him.
 
He wouldn't have fallen into Bin Laden's trap in "AfPak", and wouldn't have given Al Qaeda the great gift known as the Iraq War.

Finding and killing bin Laden, and then getting the hell out of the entire region, would have been his first priority

He would have publicly, with media coverage, opened up communications with the arab/Muslim world about our foreign policies which hurt their people. He would have made clear that any current, unjust foreign policies would be changed to the best of his ability.

9/11 would never have happened under his watch because 9/11 was an inside job....

Bin Laden said the attacks were in response to American troops in Saudi Arabia. Ron Paul would have been bringing those troops home already so any attack would have been counter productive. They would have known that the US was no longer supporting corrupt middle eastern dictators in Saudi Arabia, Egypt, etc, or the state of Israel. There would have been no attack.

This pretty much in a nutshell.

I think the view that 1. There would be no terrorism under Ron Paul or 2. We shouldn't respond at all is exactly the kind of things that turn people off from voting for him. It's a naive view and not realistic.

We get attacked, we respond. But measured and going after the people that actually did it - not randomly bombing Muslim countries and civilians.
