Under normal circumstances, it wouldn't be wrong to condemn rocket attacks on civilians, of course. But right now there is essentially a war going on in Gaza, Israel has declared that there will be a "holocaust" in Gaza... literally, that is a quote. Israel has cut off Gaza from food, medical supplies, and electricity and has been bombing them... they've killed at least 120 people so far, most civilians.
It seems like Israel is tired of Gaza and is trying to exterminate the people living there.
And at this moment, everyone in Congress decides it's a good time to blame the Palistinians for the attack on them, and to reaffirm our complete support of Israel, with the caveat that we hope they "avoid attacks on civilians as much as possible." That is what they are mostly doing, killing civilians! It makes no sense to say "Go right ahead and bomb, but try not to hurt anyone, okay?" If they were concerned with the killing, they would be condemning Israel too, not just Hamas.
Remember that the rocket attacks Israel is complaining about are unguided and almost never hit anything.. If they kill a few people a month, that's a 'good' month for them. Israel has killed 120 people in the past week!
Israel has such a hold on our politicians that none of them has the courage to even stay silent -- if they're not saluting and proclaiming their love of Israel, AIPAC lobbyists will crack the whip.
It's sickening.
